"The Package" by Andrew Ward The Westwood ave is a room. "It isn't everyday that you see a dead body in an alleyway. However Cole was desensitized to this kind of violence, and wanted nothing more than to go home and relax on his hand me down couch with a six pack and a classic action movie. Pushing his way through the crowd of reporters and nosey neighbors eating up any available information like bees drawn to honey, Cole ignored the crime scene not 10 feet from him. As he was just about to escape from the sea of mesmerized onlookers, two cops crossed his path. The bold letters on their hats that read 'HOMICIDE,' caught Cole’s attention. 'I told you he’s 5 feet 11 inches with brown hair. Write it down next time newbie' one cop barked at the other. Hearing the cop discuss the incident sparked his interest into the life of the mysterious body behind him, but Cole was already on his way to house just south of here and had no intention of turning around. As Cole made his way down Westwood ave, his mind became a swirl of possibilities that lead to that poor man’s death. He had not made it 20 feet from the crime scene when he spotted something strange. Down the next alley to the east, a mysterious small box laid beside an overflowing dumpster." The Alleyway is a room. It is east of Westwood ave."Glancing around, Cole inconspicuously slipped into the alley while everyone was focused on the situation next door. The Alleyway was relatively clean aside from a filthy dumpster with scattered trash. A black ladder leading up a fire escape. caught Cole's attention. " Cole's House is a room. It is south of Westwood ave. "Cole's house was nothing special. It is a rather empty flat with a couch, TV, and table in room." The Rooftop is a room. It is north of the Alleyway. " The rooftops of this city we're no stranger to Cole, as his job as a photographer had led him on many adventures around the city. To his left was a fire escape that lead directly to the roof. Looking around one more time, he took a deep breath, and prepared himself to climb the roof. Peering into his reflection in a small window by the fire escape, he attempted to fit all his hair into a small bun, but a few brown hairs escaped and hung loosely down the sides. Gripping the cold metal railing, he made his way up to the top. Standing tall on the roof, Cole let the breeze flap his tee shirt. The setting sun was incredible from above the city, and Cole regretted leaving his camera at his apartment. He strolled across the bland and dirty surface and looked over the horizon. He only had a few buildings to pass over before he arrived at his mysterious destination. With no intention of wasting anytime, Cole began to trot across the first roof. As he made his way towards the neighboring rooftop, a black shimmer danced across a shiny aluminum AC unit in front of him. Twirling around, Cole’s eyes darted around, quickly checking for any abnormal sightings. Just as he was about to drop his guard, he caught site of a black rubber shoe sole attempting to hide behind an aging brick wall. Silently sneaking into cover behind a stack of cardboard boxes, Cole shouted 'Who the hell are you? And wh-.' 'GO GO GO' Within moments a trio of armed men emerged from behind the wall. The wind tugged at their ties as they ran, but their immense size and strength found little challenge fighting back. Scampering away from his temporary hiding spot, Cole desperately scanned the skyline for an escape. The perfect rooftop to the east caught his eye and knew he had no choice but to jump it." The East Rooftop is a room. It is east of The rooftop. "He gripped the package tightly and increased his speed. At the last possible moment, he pushed off the rough concrete beneath his feet and extended his legs as he soared through the air. Moments after a rather harsh impact, Cole was back on his feet, with his eyes set on the next jump. Fueling the mix of adrenaline, fear, and confusion, Cole bolted across the rooftop and seamlessly cleared yet another jump. Wiping away a small pool of sweat from his forehead, Cole slammed his back against a giant aluminum air vent. Eyes wide, he peered around the vent and scanned the rooftop around him. Finally having a moment in which he wasn’t fearing his life, he let his body slide down the side of the vent until he was sitting on the ground. Letting his head fall into his hands, he whispered, 'How the hell did I get myself into this?' Before Cole could answer his own question, he heard a raspy voice declare 'He’s easily 6 feet. You can’t miss him. You go that way and i'll search this rooftop.' Desperate, he began scanning around for a weapon. It quickly became clear that he would have to jump back into action, and attempt another dash. As dusk quickly began to intensify, Cole looked around and figured out the best plan of action. Suddenly, he realized that he had run only one building away from the target. Knowing he didn’t have many options left, Cole decided to make his move. " The 856 West Street Rooftop is a Room. It is east of The East Rooftop. "As the edge of the roof rapidly approached, a figure emerged in a window, and stood directly in the revealing shine of the setting sun. With only moments remaining before he had to jump, Cole saw the man's face. As he flew through the air, Cole made direct eye contact with the man. Landing several feet from the only person who could explain this, Cole stood up." Instead of going south to the Alleyway: say "Cole decided to test his luck against the suited agents. Within moments he was overwhelmed and taken down by the vicious Trio. 'This for you own good' a cold voice whispered as a cold metal object was placed onto Cole's forehead. A faint glimmer of sun was all Cole managed to see before everything went dark.."; end the story. Instead of going west to the Rooftop: say "Cole decided to test his luck against the suited agents. Within moments he was overwhelmed and taken down by the vicious Trio. 'This for you own good' a cold voice whispered as a cold metal object was placed onto Cole's forehead. A faint glimmer of sun was all Cole managed to see before everthing went dark."; end the story. Instead of going west to the East Rooftop: say "Cole decided to test his luck against the suited agents. Within moments he was overwhelmed and taken down by the vicious Trio. The gate is a closed openable lockable locked container in the alleyway. "To the right, a rusty gate with a weak chain lock was set up. It could be easily broken with the proper tool. Just out of reach was the small box that Cole spotted from the street. Interested in the package, Cole tried to remember if he had anything helpful at his house." The Package is in the gate. It is a closed openable container. The description is "Cole crouched down and examined the box up close. The corner was heavily dented, as if it had fallen quite hard and landed sideways. Scribbled across the top of the package were the words 'Bring this to mike! ASAP!' Mike. Mike. Who was Mike? Despite knowing plenty of Mike’s in his life, this Mike stood out. He stood up and began pacing. He couldn’t put a finger on it, but he knew Mike was important. Flipping the package around he spotted another rushed note. '856 West street. Rooftop entrance ONLY.' Cole found himself enthralled with this package. He flipped it over a few times in his hands, then muttered to himself 'I guess the movie can wait.' as he glanced at the fire escape above him." The bolt cutters unlocks The gate. The table is a fixed in place supporter in Cole's House. The Bolt cutters is on the table. The description is "A compact, yet powerful tool that has helped Cole cut almost everything open." The movie is on the table. Understand "DVD" as The movie. The description is "Mission Impossible 4. The best movie of all time. If I just put this in the TV I can forget about this day and finally sit down. " The TV is in Cole's house. It is an open container. The description is "A magnificent flat screen TV with a built in DVD player just waiting for the perfect movie to be played." Instead of inserting the movie into the TV: say "Cole decides to forget about the package, crack open a 6 pack of Sam Adam's and just relax for the rest of the night"; end the story. Mike is a man in the 856 West Street Rooftop. Understand "man" as Mike. The description of MIke is "'WHO ARE YOU??' Cole demanded as he leaned over to catch his breath. 'AND WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON.' His shouts were met with a blank face. 'Hand me the package' the man said in an oddly soft voice. " Instead of giving the package to Mike: say "Cole glared Mike for several seconds before slowing extending his arm. As Cole goes to hand over the pakcage, he realized he'll never see whats inside. Just as Mike's grip closed in on the mysterious package, Cole tried to pull it back. In the commotion Cole stumbled backwards, clipping the edge of the roof. Within moments his body flew over a small protective barrier and the package went flying out of his hands. Watching his life flash before his eyes, Cole descended to world beneath him. He didn’t know when he would connect with the pavement below, but he had accepted the inevitable. Moments after Cole’s hopeless stare became permanent, a small package slammed into the ground of a nearby alley way, not 20 feet away."; end the story.
