"Prisoner" by Serenity

When play begins:
say "You wake up and it takes you a few moments to realize why today is so important. Today, by some act of mercy, you were given a free day. So today is the day you will escape."

Throwupwardsing is an action applying to one visible thing. Understand "throw [something] up" as throwupwardsing.

Carry out throwupwardsing something:
say "You don't want to throw that."

A person can be hungry or full. The player is hungry.

Bedroom is a room. The description of the Bedroom is "Your bedroom, if you can even call it that, has grey walls and is dimly lit by a sunroof in the middle of the ceiling, because it is just starting to become light. Your 'bedroom' has lights, but usually you don't bother to turn them on."

The grey walls are scenery. They are in the Bedroom. The description of the grey walls are "These are smooth grey walls. The wall to your right has faded tally marks in it. The wall to your left has a light switch."

The tally marks are scenery. They are in the Bedroom. The description of the tally marks is "Tally marks made with a pencil go all the way down the wall. That pencil has been taken away from you now. And beside the tally marks is a name. Gwendolyn Spear. Your name."

The desk is a supporter. It is in the Bedroom. The description of the desk is " A plain black work desk made of metal. It is pretty large and has 3 drawers on one side."

The top drawer is an openable closed container that is part of the desk. 
The toothbrush is in the top drawer. The description of the toothbrush is "Your plain white toothbrush."

The toothpaste tube is in the top drawer. It is fixed in place. The description of the toothpaste tube is "A tube of minty white toothpaste, something that, once you get out, you will never want to taste again."

The bottom drawer is an openable closed container that is part of the desk. 

A tablet is in the bottom drawer. It is fixed in place. The description of the tablet is "An old tablet with a cracked screen. It is out of power. It's the second broken down device the your captors have given you. Did they give it to you to taunt you?"

The middle drawer is an openable closed container that is part of the desk.   

A hairbrush is in the middle drawer. It is fixed in place. The description of the hairbrush is "A nice black brush with a few pieces of  your light yellow hair in it."

The description of the player is "You feel very hopeful today. At least, you have the most hope you can muster after being stuck in this very room for 10 years. You are still in your white tee shirt and black jeans from yesterday, the only outfit you were given."

Instead of taking the hairbrush:
    say "You take the hairbrush, pull your hair out of your braid, brush your hair, and put it back. You feel more ready for the day, but are glad you will never see that hairbrush again."

The bed is a supporter in the Bedroom. It is enterable. The description of the bed is "It is made of wood and painted black. It is smaller than it should be, because you've grown. The sheets and pillows are white, but the top cover is black. The bed is not made, and you don't bother making it. you are much to busy today."

Instead of entering the bed:
say "You are kind of tired still. Maybe just another rest...Nope, too much to do."

yarn is a thing. It is in the Bedroom. The description of the yarn is "A pile...no...more like a hill of yarn lies in the corner of the room. There are more than 25 large balls of yarn, all with different colors. The colors range from bright yellow to deep blue, to puke green, to neon pink. Beside the yarn lies your crochet bag. 

This is how they torture you. They make you crochet things for them. And you have to, or else your family pays the price. You have no idea what they use your crocheted items for, but it can't be too bad, can it?"

Instead of taking the yarn when the player is hungry:
say "You are really hungry. You must eat something before you can crochet."

Crochet bag is scenery. It is fixed in place. It is in the Bedroom. The description of the crochet bag is "There is your small, light blue, long bag overflowing with all sizes of crochet needles, from ones as small as a sewing needle to ones that could hook a baby’s leg. Lying to the side is your dark blue, size 5 crochet needle. It is very special to you. Round markers are also scattered around the bag and there are some sewing needles."

After examining the crochet bag:
 now the crochet needle is in the Bedroom.

Rope is a thing. The description of the rope is "A long rope that you crocheted. It is long enough to reach the ceiling."

Before taking yarn:
now the rope is in the Bedroom.

Crochet needle is a thing. The description of the crochet needle is "For some reason, you have a connection to this crochet needle. You rarely crochet using another crochet needle, though you have so many."

The sunroof is scenery. It is in the Bedroom. Understand "window" as sunroof. The description of the sunroof is "The sunroof is located about 15 feet up, on the ceiling. It is 4 feet by 4 feet. Your escape route?"

The swivel chair is a supporter in the Bedroom. It is enterable. The description of the swivel chair is "A black, swivel chair with a pillow from the bed on it. It is lying directly below the sunroof, where the sun is now shining down on it."

Instead of entering the swivel chair:
say "You get onto the swivel chair, soak in the sun now streaming in, and spin around with your eyes closed. But sadly, you know you must get going with your plan if you want to escape today. So you get off. This is one thing you will miss."

The sun is scenery. It is in the Bedroom. The description of the sun is "It is shining now. It's so warm and comforting, you want to be a cat for the day and curl up in it. But you must not."

 The hair is scenery. It is in the Bedroom. The description of the hair is "Your hair is an unusual color."

The player is carrying a crochet pattern. The description of the crochet pattern is "This is a pattern to crochet a long, rope thing."

Brushing is an action applying to one visible thing. Understand "brush [something]" as brushing.

Before brushing teeth:
say "(first taking the toothbrush) You brush your teeth and feel more refreshed for the day. Plus, your breath smells nice."

Carry out brushing teeth:
say "Great job remembering to brush your teeth! (sometimes you forget)."

Teeth is a kind of thing. A part of every person is teeth.

The light switch is a device. It is switched off. It is fixed in place. It is in the Bedroom. The description of the light switch is "a light switch that blends in with the wall and turns on the lights on the ceiling."

After switching on the light:
say "The lights on the ceiling switch on, though they are not much use because sunlight is streaming in now."

The green switch is a device. It is switched off. It is fixed in place. It is in the Bedroom. The description of the green switch is "a small green thing that looks like a light switch. If you switch it on, it gives you your food for the day.” 

The blue switch is a device. It is switched off. It is fixed in place. It is in the Bedroom. The description of the blue switch is "a small, blue thing that looks like a light switch. If you switch it on it makes a tiny little sink pop out of the wall! It is quite a cute little sink too. You usually brush your teeth over it." 

Crocheting is an action applying to one thing. Understand "crochet [something]" as crocheting.

Check crocheting something:
if the yarn is not carried, say "You have nothing to crochet with."

Carry out crocheting something:
if the yarn is carried, say "Are you crazy? You can't crochet that."

Instead of crocheting rope:
say "You pull out your crochet pattern from your pocket, grab your favorite crochet hook, and start crocheting...and crocheting...and crocheting. Halfway through your fingers begin to hurt. The bad thing about a free day is that you don't get your servants. But you keep on crocheting as the sun makes its way across the sky. You think you can throw this up towards the ceiling.";
now rope is carried by the player.

After switching on green switch:
say "You switch on the switch and to your delight, out pops one of your favorite meals your captors provide: scrambled eggs!"

The scrambled eggs are a thing. They are edible. The description of the scrambled eggs is "These lightly salted scrambled eggs look so good. Your mouth is watering hard now."

Before switching on the green switch:
now the scrambled eggs are in the Bedroom.

After eating scrambled eggs:
now the player is full;
say "You scarf the scrambled eggs down. Mmm, so delicious!"

Before switching on the blue switch:
now the sink is in the Bedroom.

The sink is a thing. It is fixed in place. The description of the sink is "This is an unbearably cute little sink. It is white and looks like a normal sink, except smaller." 

After switching on the blue switch:
say "A sink pops out of the wall."

Check climbing:
if the noun is not a rope, say "That is not good climbing material."

Instead of taking toothpaste:
say "You put toothpaste on your toothbrush."

After taking yarn:
say "You take the light blue yarn ball, your favorite color."

Instead of throwupwardsing rope:
say "You try to hook the rope somehow onto the hanging lights, not stopping to wonder whether it will work or not. 

After a few tries, you wonder if it will be no use. You are about to give up when your rope snags something. You pull on it to see if it will hold, and it does! The best thing is, the light is right by the sunroof." 

A person can be ready or unready. The player is unready.

Instead of climbing rope:
now the player is ready;
say "You climb the rope, almost to your freedom! You are shaky, your heart is beating so fast, and you can barely make your way up. Soon your head is right by the window. You don't want to wait too long, because you never know when the rope will snap."

Instead of opening sunroof when the player is unready:
say "You are not tall enough to reach that." 

Instead of opening sunroof when player is ready:
end the story saying "You take one last look at the sky from inside your cage. You can tell the sun is setting, and in a few moments you will see it fully. But the rope is starting to break, so you finally do it: 

With one arm you push open the heavy window, and immediately you can feel the fresh air. Adrenaline is rushing through you as you pull yourself onto the roof. You stand up and the view is breathtaking: The sunset is red and orange, with clouds mixed in, setting behind green mountain peaks. Congratulations, you've escaped!" 

pillows are scenery. Understand "pillow" as pillows. The description of pillows are "These are the pillows you have slept with all your 10 years in here. They are rather flat now."

cover is a thing. The description of the cover is "This black cover is pretty thick and warm, but you never want to see it again. It reminds you of all your nights in tears."

Before taking cover:
say "You have no idea why you are taking the cover, since it reminds you of bad things and it already too warm, but you do, and you wrap it around yourself."

Instead of taking pillows:
say "Those will be of no use to you."

lights are a thing. They are in the Bedroom. They are fixed in place. The description of the lights is "These are the kind of lights that are in a long tube hanging from the ceiling."

Before examining the bed:
