"School of... Huh?" by Tyler Campbell. use brief room descriptions. use no scoring. The player is carrying a spyglass, a small knife, and a candy bar. the candy bar is edible. When play begins, now the command prompt is "The time is [time of day]:". When play begins, change the right hand status line to "[time of day]". Every turn, if the note is visible, end the game in victory. Explore is a scene. Explore begins when play begins. Explore ends when the time since Explore began is 10 minutes. When Explore begins: now the note is in the Hospital Room. When Explore ends: now the note is in a random room. Lobby is a room. "You have entered the building. At first glance it looked like a normal place, but now you're not so sure.". Northern Hallway is north of Lobby. "The lights flicker, and your heartbeat rises.". Eastern Hallway is east of Lobby. "The lights turn off, then flicker on-and you gasp as a glowing figure appears at the end.". Hospital Room is a room. Western Hallway is west of Lobby. "The lights flicker once, and you hear a low moan, accompanied by a voice saying 'Depart... Depart...'". Gym is north of Northern Hallway. "The fans are on, but the lights are off.". Biology is north of Western Hallway. "This place smells like a fresh corpse. You notice a musty textbook.". Chemistry is north of Eastern Hallway. "Perhaps one too many explosions from science experiments have happened here...". Trigonometry is south of Western Hallway. "Nothing out of the ordinary here. Just textbooks. ". Kitchen is west of Western Hallway. "All of the cupboards reveal the lack of food, as well as the stove.". Civics is east of Eastern Hallway. "This place seems boring.". Computer Lab is east of Northern Hallway. "The computers here seem to be humming. Maybe take a look?". Driver Education is west of Northern Hallway. "Something's unsettling here...". Rec Room is south of Eastern Hallway. "A game of pool, anyone?". Hospital is a room. "You failed to find out what happened to the school. [line break][bold type]Game Over[roman type]. [line break]Restart to play again.". Trapdoor is up from Computer Lab. "[italic type]Update[roman type][line break]The game has been updated.". a glowing shadow is a man. Every turn, now a glowing shadow is in a random room. Every turn, if a glowing shadow is visible, say "A glowing shadow appears, moving toward you slowly. It slowly fades away.". Every turn, if a glowing shadow is not visible, say "[one of]A low and creepy moan echoes off the walls.[or]You hear what you hope is not shuffling feet.[or]You stop and look back, thinking you heard someone behind you.[or]You ask yourself why you agreed to this.[in random order]". biology textbook is in Biology. "Ah, the study of life itself". math textbook is in Trigonometry. "You remember this talks about triangles.". test tube is in Chemistry. "the test tube is empty.". Spatula is in Kitchen. "Ah, the classic spatulata. A good makeshift weapon, no doubt. ". Stove is scenery in Kitchen. "A normal sized stove that is for some odd reason on.". cupboard is scenery in Kitchen. "There is no point in rummaging for food when there is no food!". note is in Hospital Room. "You see a note lying on the ground and pick it up. It reads 'I hope our prank didn't cause too much hysteria. We just wanted to have some fun-Billy'[line break][bold type][italic type]Congratulations, you found out what happened![roman type]". flashing computer is in Computer Lab. "You bend down to take a glance and the screens suddenly flash in all sorts of colors, leaving you bewildered. When the screens say 'Get out' and a moan emenates from above, your heartbeat gets faster and faster.". At 9:00 AM: say "You begin to wonder why the Wonder Police sent you, the chief adventurer, to go explore this school. You start to suspect something's not the way it should... but what could that be?". At 9:00 AM: now the command prompt is "Now the time is [time of day]:". At 9:20 AM: say "You see a person and, frantic for an answer, chase it until it suddenly vanishes. You realize that in the process, you have run all over the school.". At 9:20 AM: Now the player is in a random room. At 9:30 AM: say "You get the chills and the feeling someone is watching you. You turn around, but see no-one. When you turn around, however, you become face to face with the glowing shadow you glimpsed earlier. Spooked, you gasp in terror and run, frantic to hide.". At 9:30 AM: Now the player is in a random room. At 9:45 AM: say "You hear a groan, and, scared to look, hide.". At 9:45 AM: Now the player is in a random room. At 10:00 AM: say "You shriek, unable to bear the haunted horrors of the school. You scramble to your car, tripping a few times, and proceed to drive back to the Wonder Police. When they ask you what happened, you babble frantically, trying to explain. Unable to understand you, the police send you to a mental ward, believing you to be insane.". At 10:00 AM: Now the player is in Hospital Room; end the story finally.
