When play begins: say "Your name is Nick Caraway. A while ago you moved into a smaller home in the West Egg of Queens.[Paragraph break]You have heard many rumors about your neighbor Jay Gatsby. You have meet him before at parties and spent some time with him, however you still don't know what to think of him.[paragraph break]You have again been invited to one of his parties tonight and it would be the perfect time to investigate. However you could just enjoy a nice evening in and not worry about the rumors surrounding him.[paragraph break]The choice is your.[paragraph break]Move from location to location using NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, or WEST." Description of player is "You are Nick Caraway. You have moved out here to peruse a career in the bonds business." [Living Room] Living Room is a room. A Table is in the living room. "North: Your Kitchen[paragraph break]South: Your Front Yard.[paragraph break]You are currently in the living room. You quite like the small homey feeling of it.[paragraph break]You have the choice to go to Gatsby's and learn more about the rumors or have a nice evening in and make yourself some food. There is a table in this room." On the table is an invitation, KIT key, and a phone. [Descriptions] Description of Table is "Nothing fancy just a table, on it is the invitation you received a long while ago from your neighbor Gatsby's butler." Description of Invitation is "The invitation is to one of Gatsby's wild parties that seem to be non-stop every night." Description of Phone is "Just a normal phone. You remember Jordan calling you saying she was going to be attending Gatsby's party tonight as well." Instead of taking phone, say "No, absolutely not. It's on the table and not in your pocket for a reason." [Doors] The Front door is a closed unlocked door. The Front door is south of the living room. [Front Yard] Your front yard is a room. the Your front Yard is south of the Front door. "East: Gatsby's front yard[paragraph break]North: Your Living room[Paragraph break]Your front yard. Nothing very fancy." [Gatsby's Home] [Gatsby's front yard] Gatsby's front yard is a room. Gatsby's front yard is east of Your front yard. "North: Hallway[paragraph break]West: Your front yard[paragraph break]You can see cars as far as the eye can see parked along the mansion. These must belong to all of the people who are at this extravagant party.[paragraph break]To your west is your front yard and to your north is the entryway to Gatsby's mansion." [Cars] Cars are locked containers in Gatsby's front yard. [Drunk dude] Drunk man is a person. "You see a drunk man, maybe you should ASK HIM ABOUT GATSBY." Description is "A drunk man, he is murmuring about how wild the party is and Gatsby." Drunk man is in Gatsby's front yard Instead of asking the Drunk Man about "Gatsby", say "'That wild man? He's an absolute PARTY ANIMAL. Non stop every night he throws these parties. There is no way he wouldn't be one with the ammount of paties he throws!'[paragraph break]You think over the information... you're not sure if you quite believe this however you should ASK GATSBY ABOUT IT WHEN YOU SEE HIM." [Entry way] Entryway is a room. Entryway is north of Gatsby's front yard. Entryway is west of library. "[if visited]South: Gatsby's front yard[Paragraph break]East: The Library[Paragraph break]The small hallway you came in through.[otherwise if we have examined the drunk man]A small hallway that leads to a couple other rooms. You wonder if the party animal Gatsby is still in the dining room like the drunk man had mentioned.[otherwise]South: Gatsby's front yard[paragraph break] East: The Library[paragraph break]A very neat looking entryway. You can hear music coming from the Ballroom and there was no one in sight.[paragraph break]You wonder where on earth Gatsby could be.[end if]" [Library] Library is a room. Library is east of Entryway. Drunk Book Man is a person. Drunk Book Man is in the Library. "North: Dining room[Paragraph break]West: Hallway[Paragraph break]A large beautiful Library, you could almost stop to admire it however there was someone causing a load of ruckus.[Paragraph break]Another Drunk Man is rummaging through the books around him. Why on earth would he do that?[Paragraph break]Maybe you should LOOK AT HIM to see what he's doing." Instead of examining the Drunk Book Man for the first time, say "He does not turn away from what he was doing as you approach. 'Excuse me sir, what are you doing?' you asked him. He mutters under his breath before continuing to rifle through books.[paragraph break]Maybe you should ASK HIM ABOUT THE BOOKS directly in order catch his attention before he trails off again..." Instead of asking The drunk book man about "books", say "'I heard that Gatsby was faking being rich and all of these books seem to prove the opposite! Every single book is real! Plus I had heard that he was into some shady dealings and thought maybe if there was something in one of these books I could make a few bucks for myself.'[paragraph break]He goes back to his rifling and does not turn back to you. Hmm maybe Gatsby is some sort of CRIMINAL you'll have to ASK HIM ABOUT IT LATER." [Dining Area] Dining area is a room. Dining area is east of the ballroom. Dining area is north of the library. "West: Ballroom[Paragraph break]South: Library.[paragraph break]Maybe you should look at the group of people to see what they are up to." A group of people is a person. A group of people are in the Dining area. Description is "A small group of people talking to one another. Maybe you should ASK THEM WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT GATSBY" Instead of asking The group of people about "Gatsby", say "They all start yapping your ear off. Maybe you should ask the ladies that Jordan knows about Gatsby instead..." A couple ladies Jordan knows is a person. A couple ladies Jordan knows is in the dining area. Instead of asking A couple ladies about "Gatsby", say "'Oh that man! I've heard that he killed a man before!' One of the ladies said. 'Oh my! I've heard the same rumer! I've also heard that he's a hopeless romantic...''[Paragraph break]The two ladies start talking to each other about the rumors but you no longer are interested. You start focusing on finding Gatsby." [ballroom // party room] Ballroom is a room. Ballroom is west of the dining area. "East: Dining Room[paragraph break]South: Upstairs[paragraph break]A group of people that are chatting catch your eye. However you are far to engrossed in your thoughts to care. You want to find Gatsby as soon as possible" Another group of people is a person. Another group of people are in the Ballroom. Instead of asking Another group of people about "Gatsby", say "They are all far to engrossed in conversation to talk to you." [Upstairs] Upstairs is a room. Upstairs is south from the Ballroom. "North: Ballroom[paragraph break]With all the information that you have learned from the people you have meet at the party, maybe you could finally confront Gatsby about BEING WHAT ONE OF THEM SAID.[paragraph break]Don't forget to grab the KIT key." Gatsby is a person. Gatsby is in Upstairs. Instead of asking Gatsby about "Being a Hopeless Romantic", say "'Aren't we all hopeless romantics old sport? I don't think one should define a man by what he loves, no matter how unattainable'" Instead of asking Gatsby about "Being a murderer", say "'Haha, oh old sport that's a funny one. Cant say I haven't heard it before. It is untrue however I've Gotta say, Old sport, I didn't think that you would be one to believe those kinds of rumors! Must say though, I don't blame you they are quite funny.'" Instead of asking Gatsby about "Being a Criminal", say "Well Old sport, I would say no but that's only my opinion. Whats got your feathers in a ruffle old sport? You normally aren't this direct. I wish you would be this direct about making plans old sport!'" Instead of asking gatsby about "Being a party animal", say "'Old sport, I may not be a party animal but I wont turn down a good drinks and a good atmosphere.'" [Kitchen] Kitchen is a room. "A slightly drunk Jordan sits in your kitchen for whatever reason. You'll have to ASK HER WHY SHE'S HERE." Kitchen is north of kitchen door. The Kitchen door is north of living room. The Kitchen door is a closed locked door. KIT Key unlocks The Kitchen door. Jordan Baker is a person. Jordan Baker is in the Kitchen. Instead of asking Jordan Baker about "Why she is here ", say "'I'm afraid that my group has left me and I have no ride home. Would you mind calling me a cab?'[paragraph break]You agree to call her a cab and sit with her in your kitchen. Your mind is still in a bit of a tiz and you contemplate ASKING HER ABOUT GATSBY." Instead of asking Jordan Baker about "What she thinks about gatsby", say "'Honestly I don't know why you are so interested in him Nick. He's just like any other person, oh! Did you hear that I recently won a 9 iron? Well it was more like I had won a bet but...' You zone out, thinking about what Jordan had said earlier. Maybe you should let the Gatsby rumors go. " Chair is in the Kitchen.
