"train hopping in new Orleans" by Identity When play begins: Say "NOTE: in progress. 24 hours. Continuous. That's how long you've been trying to get out of New Orleans. Still, your newly met travel companion, David -- he has the same name as you--, did warn you: 'Dude, train hopping can take a lot of time!' It sure took a lot of time. And energy, and sleeping hours, and motivation. But you are on your round-the-world travel and 'it's all about trying new things, about living new experiences!' Isn't it? You reflect on this as David and you get closer to the train tracks, determined to finally hop on a good train and get out of NOLA as soon as possible." Beneath the highway is a room. "You are under a highway bridge, and two train tracks pass here, confirming what the old guy told you before. 'You'll have no trouble hopping on a train to Austin, lad, they all stop over there', he had said confidently. There is not much but dirt around the tracks, and a discarded old and dirty mattress over there. North of the train tracks are a couple of roads, that you can't access because of big bushes in the way. You came to this place from the South, which leads back to the highway. The train tracks run East to West, into the distance. " The bridge is scenery in Beneath the highway. "The bridge you crossed a couple of hours ago to get to where you are now. Earlier on, you and David had tried to do some hitchhiking over the highway that passes through it, but to no avail. The bridge rests on the ground with big cement foundations." Big cement foundations is scenery in beneath the highway. Understand "wall","walls" as big cement foundations. The big cement foundations can be new or old. The big cement foundations is old. Instead of examining big cement foundations: say "[if old]Big poles over half tagged, half freshly repainted walls. Kind of reminds you of Berlin. [otherwise] Big poles over half tagged, half freshly repainted walls. Kind of reminds you of Berlin. You can see your handprint over where you touched the fresh paint." Instead of touching big cement foundations for the first time: say "You'd rather not risk touching the fresh looking paint." Instead of touching big cement foundations: if the big cement foundations is old: say "You put your hand against the wall, and curse when you feel wetness. Your hand comes away with paint when you remove it, and you can see your handprint on the wall."; now the big cement foundations is new; if the big cement foundations is new: say "You'd rather not put more paint on your hand." instead. The railways is scenery in beneath the highway. "You wonder when you are going to get a train as you look at the old rails." Instead of touching the old railways: say "You crouch to touch the railways and find the metal cold and smooth under your fingers." Instead of listening to the old railways: say "David laughs next to you as you try to reenact an old western movie. You grin, but cannot hear anything. Is this even a thing? You get back up." Instead of listening: say "Alas, you can only hear the traffic on the highway above you. No sign of any incoming train yet." The mattress is scenery in beneath the highway. "An old and dirty mattress that was discarded over there." Instead of taking the mattress: say " Your already have a sleeping bag, and your backpack is already heavy enough for you to lug around a dirty mattress around for the rest of your trip. You decide against taking the mattress." The description of the player is "A little bit tired, as it is -- but who wouldn't be after an a night and a day spent trying to hop on trains or to hitch cars? You are wearing your sneakers, black jeans and tee shirt, and also a jacket because NOLA isn't that hot at this time of the year." The personal backpack is an object. The description of the personal backpack is "Your traveling backpack, it has followed you during the past two months. Heavy on your back. It is mostly full of dirty laundry, with a few toiletries and medicine pills here and there." The player carries a personal backpack. The player carries a guitar. The description of the guitar is "The companion you bought in NYC -- 66 bucks for an electric acoustic guitar and bag, not bad. It's entertained you and sometimes others since then, which is why you lug it around. It's usually inside its black guitar bag." Playing is an action applying to one thing. An instrument is a kind of thing. A guitar is an instrument. Drums is an instrument. Understand "play [something]" as playing. Instead of playing the guitar, say "You take your instrument out of the bag and strum a few chords. Fatigue and boredom seem to slightly dissipate from your mind, if only for a short while. After a bit, you put your guitar back into your bag." A check playing rule: If the player is in beneath the highway: Say "dude, not here". David is a man. Instead of examining David for the first time: say "As you look at David -- he has the same name as you!, you remember how it all started: you met this young guy at your previous couch surfing host, and when you told him your next world trip city was Austin, he mentioned he was going there as well and asked you if you wanted to tag along. But not by taking a bus, or sharing a car. No, David is a train-hopper: he travels around by jumping on and off freight trains. Pretty cool. David glances at you, and you realize you have been staring. He looks pretty tired as well, but you half jealously think he hides it better than you do. " The description of David is "David looks pretty tired as well, but you think he hides it better than you do. He's got his own big backpack. " David is in Beneath the highway.
