"Apple Mansion" by "Chris Bittner" Use no scoring. The carrying capacity of the player is 3. When play begins: say "Dizzy and groggy you finally get yourself to wake up. Why you decided that it would be a good idea to go into the Apple Mountains with only a small pack of supplies you have no clue, but in any case here you are. Tiredly you pull yourself out of the makeshift hammock you made for yourself last night and survey your surroundings." Apple Mountains is southeast of Apple Mansion's Gate. "[if the Apple Mountains is unvisited]Tiredly you glance around trying to keep your eyes open. It is incredibly humid and you smell like a sweaty monkey. Peering through the foliage you notice a little path ahead to the northwest.[end if][if the Apple Mountains is visited]There is a path to the northwest.[end if]" The foliage is in the Apple Mountains. It is scenery. The description of the foliage is "It's some green foliage. What do you expect?" A pack is in the Apple Mountains. "Your pack of supplies lies on the ground nearby." It is a player's holdall. Inside the pack is a map, a roll of duct tape, and a twinkie. Understand "supplies" as pack. The description of the pack is "An old bag that has seen a lot of adventures that you fill with all sorts of odd junk." The description of the map is "A crude map an old dude drew for you yesterday. It seems to depict your current location, but nothing more. Helpful huh?" The description of the roll of duct tape is "A completely used roll of duct tape you used to make your hammock." The twinkie is edible. The description of the twinkie is "An out of date twinkie you smuggled from the hotel buffet." Instead eating the twinkie the first time: say "It smells really bad. I wouldn't eat it if I were you." Instead of eating the twinkie the second time: say "Why would you eat an out of date twinkie? I didn't even know that was possible. In any case you die instantly."; end the game in death. After taking the pack: say "You hoist your pack onto your back." The hammock is in the Apple Mountains. "Your crude hammock blows in the breeze." The description of the hammock is "A hammock you had fastened together last night out of palm fronds and your roll of duct tape." After taking the hammock: say "You roll up your hammock to take with you and it actually disintegrates into thin air. 'I should have used better quality duct tape' you think to yourself."; remove hammock from play. Apple Mansion's Gate is a room. "[if the Apple Mansion's Gate is unvisited]You are standing inside the gateway of a massive mansion. You cannot proceed further because there is a giant, locked gate blocking your path. The only other object of interest here is a statue of a large apple.[end if][if the Apple Mansion's Gate is visited]You are standing inside the gateway of a massive mansion. You see a statue of a apple and a giant gate.[end if]" The statue is in Apple Mansion's Gate. It is undescribed. The description of the statue is "Upon further examination, you notice that there seems to be a small, press-able panel on the side of the statue." It is fixed in place. Understand "apple" as statue. The floor is a locked door. Floor is below Apple Mansion's gate and above the Old Winery. It is scenery. Instead of closing the floor: say "Excuse me? You want to close the floor? Are you mad?" The panel is a part of the statue. The description of the panel is "A small panel sticking out of the side of the statue." Instead of pushing panel: now floor is unlocked; now floor is open; say "C-rash! You press the panel and to your surprise, you fall through a trap door and land in a heap on the floor."; move player to the Old Winery. The Old Winery is a room. "You are standing in an old winery. Looking around you can see a skeleton sitting on a stool in the corner. The exit back to the surface is up." The stool is in the Old Winery. It is undescribed and fixed in place. The skeleton is on the stool. The description of the skeleton is "A rather shabby looking skeleton dressed in guards garb with a key laying on his chest." The key is on the skeleton. It is undescribed. The description of the key is "A rather substantial key which has a symbol of a apple on it." After taking key for the first time: say "With a little effort you remove the skeletons bony fingers from grasping the key. It feels quite substantial in your hands." After taking the key: say "It feels quite substantial in your hands." The Gate of Power is a locked door. Gate of Power is north of Apple Mansion's Gate and south of the Apple Mansion. It is scenery. The key unlocks the Gate of Power. The description of the Gate of Power is "A giant gate that has huge pictures of apples on it." After unlocking the Gate of Power with the key: say "You stick your key deep into the gate and give it a mighty turn. You hear whizzing and clicking noises from deep in the wall. The doors then swing forward with a clang heard by the gods. You can now proceed to the north." The Apple Mansion is a room. "You walk into the mansion. It's a rather large room, although you don't notice this because a giant golden chest in the center instantly catches your eye." The golden chest is a container in the Apple Mansion. It is undescribed, locked, and fixed in place. The description of the golden chest is "A large, very special looking golden chest." The wall is in the Apple Mansion. It is fixed in place and undescribed. The description of the wall is "A stone wall which, upon closer examination, you notice has a small, round button sticking out of it." Understand "markings" as wall. The button is a device. The button is part of the wall. It is switched off. Instead of pushing a button: try switching on the button. Carry out switching on button: now the chest is unlocked; say "You hear a very suspicious click coming from the chest." Before opening the chest: if the chest is locked: say "You yank on the chest's lid but it is fastened tight. Disheartened, you look around the room. You see a wall with some strange markings, but sadly that is it." Instead of opening the chest: if the chest is unlocked: say "You wrench open the chest and brilliant bright lights hit your face as it reveals... a ton of apples!"; end the game in victory.
