"The Mall" by Richard Z, Eric F, and Shiwunan C. The maximum score is 100. A room can be scored or unscored. [INTRODUCTION] When play begins: say "You are at a mall with your girlfriend. You must find your way to the exit without spending all of your $100 by avoiding as many stores that make you spend money. However, this is no ordinary mall. Instead of having hallways leading directly to the exit, the stores are connected, forcing you to go through the stores in order to get to the exit. If you happen to make a mistake, re-entering the room will also cost points." [MALL ENTRANCE] The Mall Entrance is a room. "You are at the entrance of the mall. There is only one safe path to go to the exit, where you can avoid all the clothing stores. There are 4 doors in the room, one to the northwest, one to the north, one to the east, and one to the northwest." [TECH SHOP] The Tech Shop is a room. The Tech Shop is northeast of Mall Entrance. The shelf is a supporter in the Tech Shop. The floor is a supporter in the Tech Shop. The store is a supporter in the Tech Shop. “You enter the Tech Shop. There is a shelf of usb’s, several cords on the walls, and a rack of monitors. Your girlfriend does not seem interested. You should keep going.†USBs, cords, and monitors are on a shelf. The Speaker System is an object. The USBs is an object. The description of the Speaker System is “This is what Steve wanted me to buy for him huh?†The description of the USBs is “Wow. Technology sure has come a long way. Some of these USBs have more storage than your phone.†The description of the cords is “People come up with some strange designs...some of these look like roots.†The monitors is an object. The description of the monitors is “Why do people need such big monitors? It’s ok as long as you can see what’s going on on your screen, right?†The speaker system can be found or lost. The Tech Shop has the description "[if the player is in the Tech Shop for the second time]There is a speaker system somewhere in here... You should probably search the store[end if]." Instead of searching the store when the Speaker System is lost: now the Speaker System is found; say "You finally find the speaker system after searching through the store."; Move the Speaker System to the floor. After taking Speaker System: Increase score by 450. Understand “speaker system†as Speaker System. After taking USBs: increase the score by a random number between 5 and 100. Understand “usb†and “usbs†as USBs. After taking cords: increase the score by a random number between 4 and 50. Understand “cables†as cords. After taking monitors: increase the score by a random number between 500 and 1000. Understand “monitor†and “screens†as monitors. [FOREVER 21] The Forever 21 is a room. The Forever 21 is north of Mall Entrance. “Your girlfriend spots a dress that she likes. It is not too expensive so you buy it for her. †Forever 21 is scored. Carry out going to Forever 21: Increase score by a random number between 10 and 50. [APPLE STORE] The Apple Store is a room. The Apple Store is east of Mall Entrance. “You enter the Apple Store. It is very neat, clean and white. You spot a nice pair of headphones. You cannot resist and eventually cave in to the temptation, purchasing the headphones.†The Apple Store is scored. Carry out going to Apple Store: Increase score by a random number between 60 and 100. [VICTORIA’S SECRET] Victoria’s Secret is a room. Victoria’s Secret is northwest of the Mall Entrance. “Your girlfriend spots a really nice pair of pajamas. You buy them for her without even looking at the price tag and all of a sudden, you are set back.†Victoria’s Secret is scored. Carry out going to Victoria's Secret: Increase score by a random number between 20 and 50. [MICROSOFT STORE] The Microsoft Store is a room. Microsoft Store is north of the Tech Shop. “You see lots of fancy new desktop computers, but they’re all very slow and look pretty ugly. There are some XBoxes on display as well, but PC master race. You decide not to spend any money here. Your girlfriend is definitely not interested, as she’s busy taking selfies and posting on Instagram†Steve is a person in the Microsoft Store. He carries the brass Yale key. "A man named Steve is leaning against the wall near the store exit, and is looking at you. [if player is in the Microsoft Store for the first time] He looks distressed and like he needs help. You should ask him about helping[end if]." After the player asking Steve in the Microsoft Store about "helping": increase score by -500; say “Steve walks over to you and says: ‘Hey, I need to buy a speaker system but I have no idea which store sells it! You seem like an intelligent person, maybe you can help me find it! I’ll give you $500 to buy the speaker system for me!’†The block giving rule is not listed in the check giving it to rules. Understand "give [things] to [someone]" as giving it to. persuasion rule for asking Steve to try giving something to the player: persuasion succeeds. instead of giving speaker system to Steve: say "I have the key to the exit, by the way. It's a nice brass Yale key." The description of the computers is “Looks bad but barely works.†The description of the X-Boxes is “Do they expect people to buy these just because they’re colored differently?†[ALIENWARE STORE] The Alienware Store is a room. The Alienware Store is east of the Microsoft Store. “You enter the Alienware store and all around you are very sleek and expensive looking computers and laptops. Wandering around in the familiar blue light that you know and love, you spot a gaming laptop that you’ve had your eye on for some time. You might as well buy while you’re here, right? The cashier tells you 4 thousand dollars and you pay up. You’re walking away from the counter when you realize you only had 100 dollars. Oh well, you shrug and carry your bounty home. That one might come back to bite you someday, but as long as you’re happy, right?†The Alienware Store is scored. Carry out going to the Alienware Store: Increase score by 4000. [SKETCHY LOOKING GUY BEHIND A COUNTER] The Sketchy Looking Guy Behind a Counter is a room. The Sketchy Looking Guy Behind a Counter is northeast of the Microsoft Store. “The guy behind the counter calls you over. ‘You look like you could use a couple extra bucks,’ he says. ‘Here, just leave your debit card with us and we’ll be able to double your funds within a week’. Hey, that sounds like a GREAT idea. You hand him your card without second thoughts and walk away without even asking for some contact info. As you’re walking away, you get a message from your bank saying that you just transferred all of your money to remote account in Afghanistan that has since had all of its money withdrawn and the account closed. WHAT THE HELL!!! You’ve just been scammed. You turn around ready to give that sleazy bastard a couple beauty marks courtesy of your fists, but he’s already gone. Huh. Smooth criminal.†The Sketchy Looking Guy Behind a Counter is scored. Carry out going to the Sketchy Looking Guy Behind a Counter: Increase score by 9999. The exit door is a lockable and locked door. it is south of the mall exit and north of the microsoft store. The brass Yale key unlocks the exit door. [MALL EXIT] The Mall Exit is a room. “You have successfully made it to the exit!†[ENDING] After going north from Microsoft Store: say "Finally, you made it out! And you have saved enough money to let you indulge in something you want!"; end the game in victory. Every turn: If score is greater than 99 begin; say "You have spent all of your money. After your girlfriend goes home, you stay at the mall and reflect on your life’s choices as you slowly wither away."; end the game in death; end if.
