"Escape" by Anonymous When play begins, say "[italic type]This is just some testing of Inform7[']s stuff. Probably not going to end up as a full story, but if you have any comments, email mowseymowse@gmail.com[paragraph break][roman type]" [Player is a middle school student who tries to get away from the noisy pep rally and ends up trapped in a strange dimension] Beneath the stands is a room. "Thunderous stomping mixed with piercing screams and the occasional cacophonous blasts from an air horn fill your ears. Dust filters down from the stands above, forcing you to look towards the grimy floor. The nearest exit is being blocked by a rather burly-looking man, so the only passage is further along to the west." Grimy floor is scenery in Beneath the stands. "Cobwebs, dust bunnies, various colored sticky substances that you're not sure you want to know the nature of...no doubt this place could desperately use a good scrub down. With some acid." A burly-looking man is a man in Beneath the stands. The description of the burly-looking man is "Arms crossed and brows furrowed, he scans around him for any troublemakers. Luckily he seems to not have noticed you." He is undescribed. A sticky gum wrapper is in Beneath the stands. Instead of taking a sticky gum wrapper, say "Are you kidding? It looks like it's been here since the silent era!" Instead of listening when the location is Beneath the stands, say "You're already trying your hardest not to, but the noise is just thrusting its way in!" Instead of going east when the location is Beneath the stands, say "You're pretty quick on your feet, but you don't think you'd be able to outrun the man in this crowded place." Every turn when the remainder after dividing the turn count by 3 is 0 and the location is Beneath the stands, say "An air horn blares a bit too close to your ear. You should get out of here!". Still beneath the stands is a room. Still beneath the stands is west of Beneath the stands. "Rusty metal beams just out in all directions, some looking dangerously tetanus-y. For a moment you wonder how on earth these rickety bars hold up the stands, but that train of thought is derailed by another roar from the crowd above you. Relief is in sight - a small doorway is hanging open on the south wall!" [Stands is a backdrop in Beneath the stands and Still beneath the stands. "It is nearly impossible to see out of the stands from down here, with all the people and activity on the other side."] Rusty metal beams is scenery in Still beneath the stands. "Wobbling violently from the raucous movement above, the corroded beams seem to be barely holding things in place." Understand "beam", "bars", and "bar" as rusty metal beams. The doorway is a backdrop in Still beneath the stands. "Standing at around only five feet tall, the solid wooden door hangs wide open on its rusty hinges." Understand "door" as the doorway. Instead of closing the doorway, say "You struggle to close the door, but the hinges are completely rusted and refuse to budge." Instead of opening the doorway, say "It's already wide open." Instead of listening when the location is Still beneath the stands, say "It's a bit quieter hear, but still nearly deafening."
