The Dungeon is a room

"You are in a prison cell down in the Colosseum dungeon, during the age of the Roman Empire (400 AD). The dungeon is dark, dirty, and cold. There is a key right outside the prison bars."

The key is in the dungeon. 

The description of the key is â€œIt is a standard key, rusted with age.â€

The prison cell is a door. The prison cell is locked. The key unlocks the prison cell. 

North of the prison cell is the Cavern. The key unlocks the prison cell to the cavern.
  
The Cavern is a room. 

â€œYou now find yourself in the Cavern. It is a vast, dark place with two pathways. The pathways are completely dark and you canâ€™t see they lead. The tunnel is to the north and the staircase is to the east."

North of the Cavern is the tunnel. The tunnel is a door. The tunnel is open. North of the tunnel is the Lion Pit. 

East of the Cavern is the staircase. The staircase is a door. East of the staircase is the Storage Room.

South of the Cavern is the prison cell. South of the prison cell is the Dungeon. 

The Storage Room is a room. "You are now in a small room full of junk  with a chest to the side. To the west, there is a staircase going downwards. To the north, there is an arched doorway shining with daylight." 

The chest is in the Storage Room. The chest is a openable container. The chest is closed. The chest contains a sword, a golden key, and a bag of sand.

The description of the chest is â€œIt is a drawer. It is a large chest lined with gold. The gold is etched with faint curves.â€

The description of the sword is â€œIt is a standard longsword in a scabbard. The sword is worn-out gray made of steel with a brown hilt. The scabbard is light brown.â€

The description of the golden key is â€œIt is a standard key made of gold.â€ 

The description of the bag of sand/snakes is â€œIt is a large, white sack filled with snakes.â€

The arched doorway is a door. The arched doorway is open. The arched doorway is north of the Storage Room. The Colosseum Arena is north of the arched doorway.

After taking bag of sand:
  say "You take the bag of sand but it turns out that it was a bag full of snakes! You drop it in surprise and the snakes slither out. They slither all over your body and bite you. You succumb to the body numbing poison. The poison burns through your body. You black out from all the pain eventually.";
  end the game in death.

The Colosseum Arena is a room. "You are blinded by the bright sunlight and the roar of the people is deafening. [if the Colosseum Arena is unvisited] You see a gladiator across the stage from you. He is big, ugly, and is shouting at you. To the west, there is a small passageway. However, the gladiator is between you and the passageway. The only way to get past the gladiator is to kill him. Kill the gladiator by dropping the sword!"

The gladiator is a person. He is in the Colosseum Arena. 

After dropping the sword:
  say "The gladiator takes the sword to his abdomen. He falls to his knees. He falls face first to the ground and no longer moves."; move gladiator to prison cell; award 10 points.

The dark passageway is a door. The dark passageway is open. The Colosseum Arena is east of the dark passageway. The Small Cave is west of the dark passageway.

The Small Cave is a room. "You find yourself in a small, cramped space with a majestic, golden door in front of you. The door is golden with jewel studdings and intricately carved designs."

The golden door is a door. The golden door is locked. The golden key unlocks the golden door. The golden door is north of the Small Cave. The golden door is south of the Treasure Room.

The Treasure Room is a room. "You are suddenly surrounded by mountains of treasures, glittering in the dim light. A shield catches your eye. It is a incredible shield, made of wood, steel, and gold. Itâ€™s rims are made of gold. The main body of the shield is wood reinforced with steel. There is an emblem of a lion on the middle of the shield engraved in gold."

The shield is in the Treasure Room. The jewels are in the Treasure Room. The jewels are scenery.

The description of the shield is â€œIt is a incredible shield, made of wood, steel, and gold.
Itâ€™s rims are made of gold. The main body of the shield is wood reinforced with steel. 
There is an emblem of a lion on the middle of the shield engraved in gold.â€ 


After taking shield: 
  say "You pick up the shield. It is amazing. It feels perfect on your arm."; award 20 points.

The Lion Pit is a room. "You fall into a smelly pit with lions. The lions seem hungry and agitated. You see a tiny hole to the north much too small for the lions but barely big enough for yourself. You need something to defend yourself against them. [if the Lion Pit is visited] You fall again into the pit. The lions waste no time jumping on you this time but you hold them off with your shield. You see a tiny hole to the north much too small for the lions but barely big enough for yourself."

The small hole is a door. The small hole is open. The small hole is north of the Lion Pit. The small hole is south of Freedom.

Freedom is a room.

After going through the small hole:
  say "You wriggle your way through the uncomfortable hole and suddenly find yourself outside free. You see a valley of hills in the distance and walk in that direction.";
   end the game in victory.
