The Office is a room. "A quiet, well-organized office with a sturdy wooden desk in the center. A thin layer of dust covers every surface, undisturbed." The desk is a fixed in place supporter in the Office. "A solid wooden desk, neatly arranged, its surface coated in a fine layer of dust. There are two drawers beneath the desk, one on top of the other." The desk lamp is on the desk. "A small, brass desk lamp with a green glass shade. Dust has settled into its grooves." The telephone is on the desk. "An old-fashioned rotary telephone, black and heavy. A faint outline in the dust suggests it has been moved recently." The top drawer is a closed openable container. It is part of the desk. "A shallow drawer, good for storing small items. Its handle is smudged where it has been touched." The bottom drawer is a closed openable container. It is part of the desk. The bottom drawer is locked. "A deeper drawer, large enough to hold a few bulky objects. It appears to be locked. A thick layer of dust suggests it hasn't been opened in a while." The filing cabinet is a container in the Office. "A tall, grey metal filing cabinet with two shelves, standing against the back wall. A layer of dust covers the top, except for a faint streak where someone might have brushed against it." The top shelf is a container in the filing cabinet. "The upper shelf is labeled A-M, its folders undisturbed beneath a layer of dust." The bottom shelf is a container in the filing cabinet. "The lower shelf is labeled N-Z, coated in dust except for a few places where files seem to have been removed." The player carries the brass key. "A small, slightly worn brass key. Its surface is clean—someone has handled it recently." The bottom drawer is lockable and locked. The brass key unlocks the bottom drawer. Instead of examining the top shelf: say "Files labeled A through M are neatly arranged beneath a fine coating of dust. There are too many to search through at random." Instead of examining the bottom shelf: say "The lower shelf contains files labeled N through Z, undisturbed except for a few gaps where some are missing. There are too many to go through without a specific name in mind."
