"Mayan Temple Escape" by This was a School Assignment [ENTRANCE(room#1)] Entrance is a room. "Welcome! You were sent out to an island in Guatemala with an exploration team in search of an artifact. After passing aimlessly through the thick brambles of green, your group splits into pairs. Paired with your best friend, Gio, you end up finding a Mayan Temple. Without anyone responding to your calls, both of you decide to investigate but upon entering the first room both of you are locked inside and must find a way to escape. You can talk to Gio anytime. TIP-Have fun examining things, talking to Gio (he has a few different replies) etc. and take what you can! The Entrance room is bland aside from the detailed murals carved on the walls and a few stray cobwebs hanging off the chipped stone. You notice there are overhead labels on three doorways. To your north is the huge stone entrance door that closed behind you and Gio. The Storage Room is to your west. A library is to your east. What looks to be a hallway is to your south." Walls is here. "On closer inspection, the murals seem to be severely worn out. This temple must be really old. However, you can still make out a few figures of rigidly drawn faces and geometric patterns. They don't look to be much help in getting out of here." Walls is scenery. Understand "wall" and "mural" and "murals" and "the walls" and "the wall" as Walls. Before eating walls: Instead say "They are hard as rock. Hardly edible unless your diet consists of dry sand." Before taking walls: Instead say "No." Cobwebs is here. "Silvery strings hang from the corners of the room. A lone spider hanging on one of them crawls into the darkness." Cobwebs is scenery. Understand "cobwebs" and "cobweb" as Cobwebs. Before eating cobwebs: Instead say "You can not reach them. Even if you could it would probably taste... Icky." Entrance door is here. "It's just a huge rock. It's suggested you move further south into the temple because it doesn't look like it'll budge anytime soon." Entrance door is scenery. The floor is scenery in Entrance. "Bland, dust-ridden stone. Clouds of dirt rise when you walk so much as a step." Understand "floor" as the floor. Understand "kiss [someone]" as romantic kissing. Romantic kissing is an action applying to one thing. Instead of kissing Gio, say "Gio shows no interest, still appreciating your gesture despite looking away at your attempt. 'Would prefer you did not but thank you, I guess?'" Gio is a man. Gio is here. "Gio is with you in this room. Though, he's agreed that he will follow you around as you explore." The description of Gio is "He has golden blonde hair, his mullet is tied behind in a ponytail. This is probably because the harsh conditions in the jungle would tangle it. He has on the signature uniform of your group: dull moss green T-shirt and collar, mud brown pants and dark green boots. His seafoam blue eyes dart around his surroundings." Talking to is an action applying to one visible thing. Understand "talk to [someone]" or "converse with [someone]" as talking to. Instead of talking to Gio, say "[one of] Gio's voice is jittery. 'This place is really scary. Let's look around so we can get out of here.'[line break] [or] He's starting to shiver. 'It's pretty chilly here. Is there anywhere we can go to get my legs warmed up? Wonder where the rest of our group is...' [paragraph break] You nod in agreement.[or] 'You're doing great! Let's get out of here together. First, look around.' [line break] You think Gio is stating the obvious but appreciate his advice nonetheless.[at random]" [STORAGE ROOM(room#2)] Storage room is west of the Entrance. "You and Gio walk into the room, eyes on the lookout for anything. Luckily, the various cracks through the roof reveal several vases in rows starting from either side of the doorway. The hall of vases ends around halfway through the room where there is a rotting skeleton sitting in the corner. There is a dusty journal beside the skeleton. Directions: The Entrance is now to your east!" Every turn: if the player is in a room (called the current space): move Gio to the current space. Vases is in Storage room. Understand "vase" as vases. "They all look like detailed and priceless pottery. One of the vases in particular is broken. Why is there a broken vase out of all of them?" Vases is scenery. The broken vase is part of vases. The broken vase is a thing. [The broken vase is on the floor.] The description of the broken vase is "Investigating what's left of the vase you immediately notice there is something shiny inside it...[line break] You might want to search the interior." ["There is several markings similar to the other vases. Shards of carved history are scattered around the odd vase. Unlike the others, this broken vase is much smaller and portable. Perhaps you can take it?"] The interior is a part of the broken vase. The red key is inside the interior. Understand "inside" as interior. The red key unlocks the old wooden door. The description of the red key is "A worn down key that appears to be made of gold. There is a red jewel embedded in the middle. You wonder if you can use this." [ "You put the vase back. Shards of carved history are scattered around the odd vase and you can't help but think they would probably sell for quite a sum as well as the vase";] Shards is in Storage room. "You take a moment to admire the carvings. One of the scribbles looks to be a funny shaped dog. From behind, you can hear Gio whistling from the other room.[line break] 'Hey, I know the pottery is interesting and all but... Can we stay focused?" Shards is scenery. Understand "shard" and "vase shards" and "broken shards" as shards. The skeleton is in Storage room. The skeleton is scenery. "'AHHH-' Gio's reaction is justified. Even a small glance sends shivers down your spine. It's really creepy and certainly not encouraging for the situation you're in right now... The journal beside it looks useful though." Understand "corpse" and "dead body" and "skelly" as the skeleton. Before eating skeleton, say "Do you have any idea how hard bone marrow is? Your dignity won't allow you to nibble on the boney finger you picked up. It's covered in dust and you decide to put it back down." The journal is in the storage room. The journal is a thing. The journal is scenery. The description of the journal is "There are panicked scribbles of handwriting. Quite a few pages are written in and one in particular is bookmarked: [line break] 'It's been four whole days... My water has run out and I still can't seem to find what I'm looking for! I've examined everywhere except the vases in this room! They are much too tall and I wouldn't dare to break such relics anyway. Though, sitting in this room with strange vases is sickening and I accidentally kicked one. Whatever, I'll just hope I can get out of here.'" Before taking journal, say "A centipede crawls over one of the pages. Gross. You decide against it." Instead of showing the red key to Gio, say "Gio looks at it, studying the bright red gem. 'Hmm.. Interesting! Think we could use that in one of the rooms here.' [line break] Welp." [ABANDONED LBRARY(room#3)] Abandoned Library is east of the Entrance. "You step in first, Gio being far more cautious than you but follows inside anyway. There is rickety bookcases on either side, withered books poking themselves out of their confined spaces at strange intervals and the entire place looking as though hardly anything or anyone has touched it. There is only a few stray tables with a few stacked books. However, what's out of place is the huge area cleared around the middle revealing a dust-ridden chest. Directions: The Entrance is to your west!" The chest is in the Abandoned Library. The chest is an openable container. The chest is closed. The description of the chest is "It's got a nicely carved out lid, the rim of it being outlined in flaking off gold. Is there something inside?" The leather cap is inside the chest. The leather cap is wearable. Understand "hat" and "cap" as leather cap. The description of the leather cap is "Jet black cap with gold outlines between the visor and the hat itself. It has a few dusty but shiny square medals across the front panels of the cap, visible for anyone to see: A golden hand carved into one." The leather cap is in the chest. After wearing the leather cap, say "You feel a strange sense of bravery when wearing this hat. It fits comfortably on your head despite the bits of dust floating off of it. Time to defeat Dio-- what? Nevermind." The bookcases is in Abandoned Library. The bookcases are scenery. "They look beat down and weathered with time. Being preserved within a crumbling temple has not treated them lightly. Gio is studying the covers and muttering to himself. Pretty normal actually. Gio loves books." Understand "cases" and "bookcase" and "bookcases" as the bookcases. The books is in Abandoned Library. The books is scenery. Understand "book" and "books" as the books. The description of the books is "You bother to read a few covers that are not written in strange languages or ciphers. 'The World' A lengthy book that looks to be something about history, 'How To Train Your Dolphin' by J.K, a famous marine biologist- [line break] Yeah, not too useful. Maybe that last one was brought from outside." The tables is in Abandoned Library. The tables is scenery. The tables is supporter. Understand "table" as the tables. "Wood on the brink of collapse. It's all chipped in places that make you surprised the tables around you have not fallen already." [Hallway] Hallway is south of Entrance. "You and Gio are now in the hallway. You are very frightened by the the creepily squeaking sounds that went through the walls which reached your ears. You see two pathways, to the South is a old wooden door and to the West is another room that leads to a unknown pathway. Directions: The Entrance is to your north!" The old wooden door is a door. The old wooden door is south of the Hallway. "You can see an old wooden to the south." The description of the old wooden door is "It's locked! It has a red keyhole. Maybe a red key can fit inside it?" The old wooden door can be locked or unlocked. the old wooden door is closed. the old wooden door is locked. Understand "door" and "wood door" as the old wooden door. [Unknown Pathway] The Unknown Pathway is west of the Hallway. "You walk straight into the hallway and you notice these unique carved prints on the walls of the unknown path, and you notice you are now stuck in a two way crossroad. You may want to examine the prints on the wall first. Perhaps, a riddle? You have a choice of going Northwest or Southwest. In the Northwest side, it has a panel saying Food. In the Southwest side, it has a panel saying Secret." The riddle is in the Unknown Pathway. The riddle is scenery. “Woooaaahhhh, there are such fascinating carving prints on the walls. Ohh, That might be the reason why it’s called the Unknown Pathway, it’s so unique and amazing! On the walls of the unknown path, it has a lot of mysterious carved sculptures of people whispering to each other and it has an unknown message that says, If you have me, you will want to share me. If you share me, you will no longer have me. What am I?” Understand "the wall" and "carvings" and "prints" as the riddle. The Food is northwest of the Unknown Pathway. [Losing- Hannah] The Food is Northwest. After going to The Food: say "Oh no! You and Gio have been eaten by the alligators! You might not have fulfilled the requirements. Oh well, try again next time!"; end the game in death. The Secret is southwest of the Unknown Pathway. The blue key is an object in The Secret. The blue key unlocks the steel door. The description of the secret is "Both of you creep into this room, cautiously. It's mostly empty. But then,..... you see a blue key!!!" The description of the blue key is "Hmmmmm..... I wonder what this is for.... maybe there is another door that suits with this blue key." [Exit room + Winning] The Artifact Storage is a room. "Inside there is an artifact and heaps of treasure." The Artifact storage is south of the old wooden door. The cat artifact is a thing inside the Artifact Storage. Understand "artifact" and "statue" and "cat" as the cat artifact. Coin is an object. The description of the cat artifact is "This Artifact Storage storages a cat artifact which looks like it had a long history. It is also filled with plenty of coins around the room which may bring inner conflict to some people to........ yeah. Maybe I should search this room more meticulously just in case there is an exit door to end this tedious journey. Ah! There is another door! It seems to be a steel door with a blue keyhole. Oh right! I have found a blue key hole from the other room. Maybe this key may unlock this door and lead me outside. I should take the artifact and leave." After taking the cat artifact: say “Congratulations! You have escaped the temple with a bright smile by unlocking the steel door which was your exit door with the blue key and an expensive artifact in hand!"; end the game in victory. The Steel Door is South. The steel door is closed locked door. The blue key unlocks the steel door. Before opening the steel door, say “You watch light flood in. You glance back at the artifact.” [Every turn while in the Artifact Storage:] [if score is 100] [begin; say "Congratulations! You have escaped the temple with a bright smile by unlocking the steel door which was your exit door with the blue key and an expensive artifact in hand!"; end the game in victory;] [end if.] [Fugo : Character#2 SCRAPPED] [Fugo is a man.] [Fugo is in The Secret. "Fugo is in this room, too scared to leave."] [The description of Fugo is "He looks disheveled. You notice he is also wearing the trademark uniform of an adventurer but with much more scratches, dirt patches, discoloured fabric and various holes. He had sunny yellow hair, dirtied into a more brown-ish mango. Deep brown eyes, amber to the point where they almost looked red."] [Instead of talking to Fugo, say "'Thanks...' He looks slightly embarassed, as if he'd rather jump back into the hole than continue talking."]
