The description of the boxes is "They're just boxes. Probably filled with old lady junk. They smell like mothballs." The description of the old typewriter is "It's a typewriter. Who cares?" The description of the portrait covered in cloth is "It's a large rectangular portrait probably of my grandfather. Besides it's not what I'm looking for." The ladder is a door. The ladder is down from the attic. The ladder is up from the hallway. The hallway is a room. "You are in the upstairs hallway of your Grandmother's house. You see two bedroom doors and another staircase heading downstairs. Your Grandmother's bedroom is to the east and your Mother's old bedroom is to the south." The white bedroom door is a closed door.
