"You'll Be Late - Broken/Unfinished" by Tyler Ahlborn Lunch Area is a room. "You casually stroll to the lunch line. The smell of rusty lettuce and stale bread fills your nostrils causing your already famished stomach growl in hunger. As you walk from the north past the entrance to the gym, you notice that nobody is in line. This seems curious until you hear it - the sound of the bell. Lunch has ended and you lagged so badly that you never got to eat. You are starving, but if you don't get to Starbucks to meet Girl, she is going to be super pissed. You'd better hurry if you are going to get there in time. To the west you see your friend Guido standing at his usual spot where he sells pizza. To the east is the quad. Guido calls to you . . . " West is Guido's Stand. East is The Quad. Guido's Stand is a room. A man called Guido is here. "You walk over to Guido's counter. He says, 'Sup playa. You look hungry. I have some left over pizza back here. All you have to do is ASK!'" Pizza is on the counter. Pizza is edible. Pizza can be lost or found. The pizza is lost. Instead of asking Guido about "pizza" when the pizza is lost: now the pizza is found; say "No problem boi! Here's two slices fresh out the box!' Guido drops two slices on the counter." ; move the pizza to Guido's Stand. After eating pizza: say "Because you wasted your time cupcaking and eating pizza with Guido, your girl left you. She is currently being bought Starbucks and taken to the movies by a more punctual gentleman. You die old, alone, and broke." ; end the game in death. The Quad is a room. "Entering the quad you realize just how late you are. There is nothing in the quad except for the abandoned remains of today's lunch. Even the seagulls have moved on except for a few stragglers rummaging through the remains. You prepare to head NorthWest towards the bathrooms when you hear some muffled voices over your shoulder (North). Betty is talking to Mr. Negri. They look in your direction, clearly wanting to talk to you." North of The Quad is Admin. Admin is a room. "As you get closer to Betty and Mr. Negri, their smiles turn to scowls. Mr. Negri's hands are resting firmly on his hips as his head, dropped slightly, turns from side to side. In his clenched hand is a piece of wrinkled paper. Should you ASK NEGRI ABOUT THE PAPER?" Negri is a person. Negri is in Admin. After asking Negri about "paper": say "As soon as the words leave your mouth, you realize your mistake. That inocuous piece of paper is anything but - it's your attendance printout from last week. Shaking the piece of paper at you, Mr. Negri cries, '57 tardies last week! Who are you? Giovanni? This is unacceptable! You are spending the rest of the day with Betty!' As you are escorted off to Betty's office, all you can think about is how mad Girl is going to be. You are right to worry. At that very moment, the barrista from Starbucks was giving her more than a decadent caffeinated beverage. They eventually get married and have 4 children. After winning the lotto, they move to Hawaii and live happily ever after. You never marry and the last thought you have before you die is how happy you could have been if you just got to class on time."; end the game in death. NorthWest of The Quad is The Bathroom. The Bathroom is a room. "As you approach the bathroom you smell a familiar aroma filling the air. You are tempted to make a turn to the East to see what is going on, but you know that you should continue NorthWest." East of The Bathroom is Expelled. Expelled is a room. After going to Expelled: say "You enter the bathroom and no one is there. You shrug and turn to leave, but when you turn around the only thing you see is your reflection staring back at you from a fine pair of silver aviators. Ryan is not pleased and you are expelled. Fortunately, half of a high school diploma has qualified you to work at Taco Bell. Unfortunately, in a freak accident a bean burrito explodes and takes your life." ; end the game in death. NorthWest of The Bathroom is L Building. L Building is a room. "As you meander past the bathroom in front of the L Building, you see Jablonski. She had an appointment with Girl earlier. You wonder if she might know where she is . . ." Jablonski is in L Building. Jablonski is a person. After asking Jablonski about "Girl", say "'Oh, yes. Girl said she was going to meet you at Starbucks, but that was 20 minutes ago. You'd better hurry. Cut through the back gate. It will be fastest. Continue north past Ahlborn's room and onto the ramp, then head NorthWest to the Gate. Hurry!'" North of L Building is Passing R13. Passing R13 is a room. Ahlborn's door is a closed door. Ahlborn's door is east of Passing R13 and west of Ahlborn's Room. The description of Ahlborn's Door is "The door to Mr. Ahlborn's room is slightly ajar. You can go to the East to see if he is there, or continue on your way." East of Ahlborn's Door is Ahlborn's Room. Ahlborn's Room is a room. "As you enter Ahlborn's room, you are drawn in by just how fierce his beard looks. It shimmers in the sunlight and looks as though each individual hair is flexing its mighty biceps. He is intently working at his desk and barely notices you enter." Ahlborn is in Ahlborn's Room. Ahlborn is a person. After asking Ahlborn about "the key", say "The key huh. I stashed it in the back by the gate - near the trash can. Go SEARCH THE GATE to find it." North of Passing R13 is The Ramp. The Ramp is a room. "Almost there. You can see the back gate and the smelly trash can that is chained next to it." NorthWest of The Ramp is The Back. The Back is a Room. The Gate is a closed locked door. North of The Back and south of The Neighborhood is The Gate. The key unlocks the gate. The key can be found or lost. The key is lost. The trash can is in the back. The trash can is fixed in place. Instead of searching the Gate when the key is lost: now the key is found; say "Ah, there it is! Next to the trash can."; move the key to the back. Instead of opening the gate when the key is lost: say "Locked!?! I wonder if Ahlborn still has the key . . ." Before going through the gate: say "Girl is getting impatient. Run! You know the way!" North of The Gate is The Neighborhood. The Neighborhood is a room. Hurry is a room. North of Neighborhood is HURRY! "Don't Get Lost!" RUN FASTER is a room. West of Hurry! is RUN FASTER. "Don't Get Lost!" CLOSER is a room. West of RUN FASTER is CLOSER. "Don't Get Lost!" ALMOST THERE is a room. West of CLOSER is ALMOST THERE. "Don't Get Lost!" West of ALMOST THERE is Starbucks. Starbucks is a room. After going to Starbucks: say "Girl is so happy that you were finally on time - for once. In fact she is so happy that she lets you walk her home and go 'off-menu.' Unfortunately, this means you have a baby in 9 months. Forced to support Girl, who now refuses to work, and a baby, you drop out. You spend the rest of your life trapped in an unsatisfying relationship." ; end the game in victory.
