“Downtown Swingers” by What are You Waiting For? When play begins: Say “THIS IS A DEMO OF THIS GAME. NOTE THAT SOME OF THE THINGS ARE NOT COMPLETED. It was a long time since you went to the eatery, about 20 years back, when you were still a wee boy. Now, you are a young adult, living in a house. You are fortunate enough to get a good job. One day, as you were playing games on your TV, you took a look outside to be greeted with the eatery DIRECTLY OPPOSITE your house! Not quite, as there are a few shops, few alleys, the usual. But you consider this an ultimate victory. You will do anything to enter the eatery, even eating mice, and your journey has just started.” The description of the player is “looking fresh.” Bedroom is a room. “Books are strewn about the corners of the room. A window overlooks the eatery that you always wanted but never got the chance to go to. A door to the North leads to the stairs. To the South, there’s a passageway.” A journal is here. The description is “When read, the journal shows a drawing of a ‘dream house’ that you drew. You sigh.” Corner is a room. Corner is south of the bedroom. “Looking out the window, you see a full view of your residential area. There’s the Neighbour Zone, there’s FuncTown JuncTown, and a few others. You are tempted to leap out of the window, but that would be absolutely crazy. Going south results in death.” The cable is a room. “You think you’ve lost it. Hanging on to dear life via a cable, you dangle precariously over the pavement, about 30 feet above (Your house is that big). The cable stretches far from here, though going South puts you back inside your home. Better go South. There is no cable to the north, so why are you contemplating it? Wait, there’s a wire to grab on, surely you could pass?” A wire is a thing in the cable. After taking wire: Say “Without thinking, you grab the wire and slip. You plummet 30 feet down to pound the pavement. You feel your bones shatter like snapping sticks. People pass by you, but they don’t seem to notice you. You died.”; End the game in death. The cable is south of the corner. Stairs is a room. The description is “You are on the stairs. Going down will result in the living room, and going south will result in the bedroom. There is really nothing to do on the stairs, except kill time, which could be a pretty good thing to do right about now.” The stairs is north of the bedroom. Living room is a room. The description is “Despite being quite big, you have no problem moving about the area. A TV sits on a stand, accompanied by two big speakers. DVDs and a remote control sits by the TV. A passageway to the west is the kitchen, while a seemingly broken door to the east leads to the dining area. Going up will result in the stairs.” The living room is down of the stairs. Battered door is a closed locked door. It is scenery. Regular Key unlocks Battered door. Battered Door is east of the living room, and west of the Dining area. Kitchen is a room. The description is “Cupboards and cupboards line the wall of the kitchen. Maybe there’s something inside the cupboards? A glassy table holds a few soups and foods of different kinds. A passageway to the east goes back to the living room.” A bowl of soup is here. The description is “still warm liquid-y perfection.” A mouse is here. It is edible. The description is “A small cute thing.” The cupboard is here. It is a closed openable container. It is scenery. Inside the cupboard is regular key. After taking the mouse: Say “it struggles in your hand as you shove it into your pocket.” After dropping mouse: Say “You deploy the mouse. It scurries around.” After eating the mouse: Say “without thinking,You gulp the mouse down your throat. It squeaks and wriggles about but one bite silences it. Surprisingly delicious.”; Increase score by 3. Kitchen is west of the living room. Dining area is a room. “A group of weird looking mannequins surround the table. You seem to understand why you locked up this place in the first place. You rarely eat here anymore due to the moving mannequins. They always had a talent for freaking you out. The broken door leads west to the living room. A door to the east leads to the basement. There’s a box located underneath the table. Perhaps there’s something inside it?” A box is here. It is scenery. It is a closed openable container. Inside the box is Red Key. Red key is in the box. The mannequin is a thing in the Dining area. It is fixed in place. The description is “It does sign language. ‘Your SCORE is known as your POWER. With more POWER, you have more health and can be granted POWERful tools to wallop enemies more quickly.’ It looks like you can attack it.” Attacking is an action. Instead of going west from the dining area when the mannequin is in the dining area: Say “You feel the mannequin’s piercing glare (if it had any eyes).” Metal frame is a thing. The description is “The remains of the mannequin.” Strawberry Mouse is a thing. The description is “It is a strawberry mouse. The perfect companion. If you do not want it in the open, put it in your pocket. You shouldn’t eat it.” Instead of attacking the mannequin: Say “With a brilliant blow, the mannequin immediately gets blasted into shreds by the power of your punch! You are much stronger than you thought. A large silver coloured metal thing rests in the mannequin’s place. You hear a loud thump coming from the bedroom, perhaps you should check it out.”; Now the strawberry mouse is in the bedroom; Remove the mannequin from play; Now the metal frame is in the dining area; Increase score by 3. Basement is a room. The description is “Smells like something died here! Maybe something did. You feel cramped, though the basement is very large. Book after book after book are towered against each other, making them look like pillars. Maybe they are pillars. You feel like leaving.” Rat is a person in the basement. “A rodent-like thing is on the ground. You do not know what it is doing.” The description is “It is a rodent! It’s a rat! You hate rats. Now would be the right time to strike the rat.”
