When play begins: say "[italic type]There are only a couple of days left of the semester and you've spent the whole week in the library working on your last assignment of the year: a 15 page paper for your least favorite class. You kept saying that you wouldn't wait to do it last minute but... you should have known yourself better than that. It's due in seven hours and you just woke up from an impromptu nap in your library cubicle.[roman type]" The Third Floor is a room. "You're on the third floor of the library. There is a flickering light above your cubicle and there is a hum of air circulating through the building. Other than the circulating air, you hear the ticking of your wristwatch. There are shelves full of books you would probably never read and empty cubicles around you. You can see the study room to the east of you, and a hallway to the north. You also see a set of stairs that'll lead you to the lower floors." A desk is here. "The desk next to you is piled with books and papers." The description is "The papers have discarded drafts of you paper scribbled on them and the books are open to various pages pertaining to your research and a note is stuck to the book on the top of the stack." The books are here. It is scenery. The description is "There's nothing new on these pages." The stairs are here. It is scenery. The description is "Go down." The note is here. It is scenery. The description is "[if we have not examined the note]The note is addressed to you and written in sloppy handwriting. You should probably keep examining the note. [otherwise] The note says: I tried to wake you up to let you know that the library was closing but you wouldn't wake up no matter what. I left the key in the office so make sure to lock up when you leave. Good luck on your paper, Meg[end if]" The Second Floor is a room, below the Third Floor. "The second floor looks just like the third floor. There's nothing special with this floor. You can go up or down." The Lobby is a room, below the Second Floor. "The lobby is dimly lit and cavernous but has several couches positioned in squares around a wooden cube. To the east you can see the office. To the west you can see the front door that leads to the patio." The couches are here. It is scenery. The description is "The couches don't look comfortable." The wooden cube is here. It is scenery. The description is "There are magazines on the wooden cube and a yearbook flipped open to a random page." The magazines are here. It is scenery. The yearbook is here. It is scenery. The Office is east of the Lobby. The Office is a room. "There are a few computer tables at the end of the office that have computers on them." The key box is here. It is a closed openable container. The brass key is in the box. The computers are here. They are scenery. The description is "The computers are off. But have stickers on them that say 'Got Books?'" The Hallway is a room, north of the Third Floor. "The hallway is dimly lit. To the north you can see the sign leading to the bathroom. There are pictures of past university presidents on walls. There seems to be something interesting on one picture." The picture is here. It is scenery. The description is "Someone has drawn a mustache on the face of the picture." The Study Room is a room, east of the Third Floor. "The light is off in the study but you can see someone left a pair of headphones on the table." The table is here. It is scenery. The description is "It's just a table but someone left some headphones on it." The headphones are here. "The headphones are really nice. Someone must be missing them." The description is "These must have cost someone a lot of money." The bathroom door is north of the hallway. The bathroom door is a door. The bathroom door is locked. The front door is a closed locked scenery door. It is west of the Lobby and east of the Patio. The matching key of the front door is the brass key. After opening front door: say "You've made it out of the library. Now get back to your room and finish your paper."; end the story saying "YOU'VE GOT 10 MORE PAGES TO WRITE!! BETTER HURRY UP!".
