"Thanksgiving Silverware" The Attic is a room. "It's dark. You hear footsteps, with echoing voices, coming closer. Something creaks in front of you, then slams shut. ‘Do we really have to host Thanksgiving this year?’ says the voice of a girl. ‘Yes, sweetheart, we promised Grandma last year, remember?’ replies a man's voice. ‘But then I have to babysit all the little kids,’ the girl whines, lightly stomping her foot on the wood below. ‘We’ll talk about this later,’ the man says, his tone more stern. ‘Bring the fancy silverware down. Your mom wants to shine it and use it tonight.’ ‘Whatever.’ You can feel yourself slowly being lifted off the ground. Everything around you shakes, and openings above you flap up and down, revealing small cracks of light at a time. Suddenly, the container jolts and the flaps fly open, tossing you out. ‘You okay?’ the man calls from downstairs. ‘Yeah, I’m good,’ the girl says back. With that, you hear wood creaking once more, before it slams down with a click. Slowly, your eyes adjust, and everything starts to come into focus. (Intro ends here) Right in front of you is a handle, attached to what looks like a scuttle door that goes down to the upstairs hallway. You lift your head and inspect your surroundings. It’s dusty, but you can make out a pile of cardboard boxes, and a rectangular wooden one. In one of the corners, you can see what looks like a plate that seems to be waving you over. Wait… what?" The pile of boxes is in the Attic. The pile of boxes is a closed openable container. nothing but spiderwebs and mothballs are in the pile of boxes. The wooden box is in the Attic. The description of the pile of boxes is "You make your way to the pile of boxes. Most of them are taped shut, but one looks open." The description of the wooden box is "Moving towards the wooden box, you notice it looks relatively clean compared to the rest of the attic. There's a latch, but it's not locked." The description of the scuttle door is "The door blends into the floor, and is only distinguishable by the small cracks between the two pieces that let in streaks of light. The rope handle sticks up, but the latch is closed." The description of ‘The Broken Plate’ is "You carefully go closer to the plate. As you get closer, you can see that it seems to be slightly cracked, with scratches all over the edge. Maybe try talking to him?" The description of the rusty key is "You turn the key over in your hand. It's rusty, but relatively generic." Instead of telling ‘The Broken Plate’ about something: say "'I don't have time for chit-chat. You know it's Thanksgiving day, right?' he croaks out. 'I'm not as spry as I used to be, so I can’t go all that way, but you still have a life ahead of you.' He pauses, taking a breath. 'Get down there, and get on that table. I believe in you.'" Instead of asking ‘The Broken Plate’ about something: say "'I don't have time for chit-chat. You know it's Thanksgiving day, right?' he croaks out. 'I'm not as spry as I used to be, so I can’t go all that way, but you still have a life ahead of you.' He pauses, taking a breath. 'Get down there, and get on that table. I believe in you.'" The Upstairs Hallway is a room. "You find your way down the ladder into a hallway. A carpet lies along the floor, the bright colour lighting up the rest of the room. You see two doors and a set of stairs. A dark wooden door is to your right and leads to the parents’ bedroom. The other is a white wooden door to your left that leads to the daughter's room. The doors are closed but don’t seem to be locked. The set of stairs leads down to the main floor. Out of the corner of your eye, you see something shiny in the hallway. It kind of looks like a key…" The dark wooden door is in the Upstairs Hallway. The dark wooden door is a door. The dark wooden door is east of the Upstairs Hallway. It’s open, just a crack, and you can see just a little inside. From what you can see, the room on the other side looks like a master bedroom, probably the parents’ bedroom." The description of the white wooden door is "Turning to the white wooden door, you try to peek through but the door is shut. The door looks newly painted, but the hallway carpet has scraped some of the paint off the bottom of the door, revealing a light pink paint underneath. This must lead to the daughter’s bedroom." The description of the shiny gold key is "Slowly, you creep towards the shiny object, preparing for anything. You get close, only to find that it’s simply a key. You wonder where it goes…" The Daughter's Bedroom is a room. "You push the door open and shimmy your way into a bedroom. A bed with pink covers is pushed against the wall to your left, with stuffed animals leaning against the headboard. On your right, there’s a desk and a dresser. The desk has a drawer, but there seems to be a keyhole. It must be locked. The dresser is cracked open, with a pair of jeans hanging out from between the doors." The description of the bed is "You look over at the bed, which takes up most of the room. It’s pretty big for a one-person bedroom, but it’s cute. The pink covers match the light pink silk pillow covers. Stuffed animals lean against the wooden headboard, but none of those seem to be important right now." The description of the closet is "You make your way over to the wooden closet. The colour of the wood is similar to the one on the headboard of the bed. You can see what looks like the leg of a pair of jeans sticking out from between the double doors. Maybe open it and see what’s inside?" The description of the pair of jeans is "You pick up the bottom of the leg, feeling the material. The jeans are pretty standard, but a bit worn down. Other than that, they’re unimportant." The description of the small wooden box is "The wooden box is white, and it looks like it’s been painted over and sanded down. There’s a small latch, but it’s flipped upwards, so the box must be unlocked." The description of the plastic white key is "You flip the key over in your hands. It’s definitely plastic and probably isn’t used for any real locks. In fact, it’s probably used for something in the daughter’s room." The description of the desk drawer is "You move towards the desk, inspecting it. It’s a white colour, made out of wood, but the wood is smooth, almost plastic-y. The desk drawer is on the right side of the desk, with a white lock on the top middle of the front face. You tug on the drawers and it moves, but doesn’t open. It must be locked." The description of the diary is "You move the diary closer to you, peeking over the edge of the desk to inspect it. It's pink and purple, covered in jewels that match the colour of the book. The jewels are arranged in the shape of a unicorn. It's kind of cute. There's a latch on each side of the cover, which is locked. Makes sense if it's a diary. Maybe you shouldn’t pry in someone else's business." The description of the crumpled paper is "The crumpled up paper is pushed into one of the corners. It looks like it has some writing on it. You pick it up and unfold it. In big, dark, letters, it says: 'How Mom says I should shine silverware: vinegar + baking soda + water in a bowl, let them soak for a bit, done!' That might be useful later." The Parents’ Bedroom is a room. "The door creaks open as you make your way into the bedroom. It’s very large, made for at least two people. Dark gray covers are neatly folded on top of the mattress, with large pillows covered in white cotton pillowcases. It looks so… tidy. Too tidy to mess up." The description of the dresser drawer is "You make your way over to the dresser. The dresser has 6 drawers on it, two by three. One of the drawers has a gold lock right in the middle. It's very clean, so much so that you can see your reflection. You take a peek and spot a couple of pieces of dirt and even a few scratches here and there. You're gonna have to remember to polish and clean yourself before dinner. Suddenly, you hear a voice coming from the drawer: 'Help! I’m trapped in here!' Oh no! You should get that drawer open. Where have you seen the key before? The lock looks kind of familiar." The description of the watch box is "The box is made out of a black, fuzzy material. It matches the face of the watch, with the silk padding on the inside being a lighter colour. The colour of the watch is more visible that way." The description of Mr Watch is "His face is covered in a black background with silver detailing for the time. Vintage… you wonder who it belongs to. The straps attached to his face are made of leather, coloured a dark brown that makes the black background on his face pop. How did he get here in the first place?" Instead of telling Mr Watch about something: say "The watch jumps out of his box before speaking. 'That doesn’t matter. I’ve been stuck in this box for way too long today. Somebody must have forgotten to take me out in the rush…' he says. 'The rush for what?' you reply, confused. He looks at you a bit funny for a moment as if the answer should have been obvious. 'The Thanksgiving dinner, of course! You’re going, aren’t you?' You think for a moment before replying. 'Yes, I am.' The watch nods thoughtfully before looking you up and down with a raised eyebrow. 'Well, you ought to get yourself cleaned up before then… you look a mess. There must be some baking soda and vinegar for you downstairs. Good luck!' he says, as he hops back into his box, getting comfortable." Instead of asking Mr Watch about something: say "The watch jumps out of his box before speaking. 'That doesn’t matter. The description of the flower vase is "The display of flowers is beautiful, the candles lighting up the area surrounding them. In fact, it almost seems too bright. You look a little closer and see something shiny sticking out of the dirt in the vase. Open it up and take a look!" The description of the light key is "You turn the light-coloured key around in your hands. It's quite pretty, now that you really look at it. Someone has added lace to the inside, of the handle, allowing for its secondary function to be a cute decoration." The description of the white door frame is "The door frame is made of wood, but painted white to blend in with the wall. It seems pretty well kept up. You peek through and see the kitchen." The Kitchen is a room. "You enter the kitchen. The aroma of freshly cooked food fills your senses. It smells delicious. There's a large counter with a sink against the wall. Someone must have forgotten to put them away in the Thanksgiving rush." The description of the cupboard is "You climb up onto the washing machine and look up at the cupboard.
