"Electronic Literature Project" by Alex Spangler The carrying capacity of the player is 5. The player carries a night gown. The night gown is wearable. The player carries a banana. The banana is edible. The story headline is "Electronic Literature Project". When play begins: say "Welcome. You awake from a deep sleep but find yourself in a room that you do not recognize. You have no idea how you got here, but you know that you are definitely not in the right place. In order to win, you need to find the key that unlocks the door to go outside. It seems to be some sort of treasure hunt… Good luck!" Cellar is a room. Description of Cellar is "This place is very creepy. The air is damp and moist. You definitely don't want to stay here for too long. The dimly lit light above you is suspended from a string. The light pulsates on and off, creating a silhouette. You can also see a trap door above you." A Silver Key is here. The Description of Silver Key is "Nothing too special about this key. It opens the Trap Door between the Cellar and the Basement. I wonder if it opens anything else in the house? Might want to hang onto it!" The Trap Door is a door. It is above Cellar and below Basement. The description of Trap Door is "A cracked and wooden door. I wonder how long this has been here? The closer you look, the more you realize that you don't want anything to do with this Cellar. I wonder if you'll find out who did this to you…" After taking the Silver Key: increase the score by 5; say "Congratulations, you are on your way to success!" The Trap Door is locked. The Silver Key unlocks Trap Door. The Steel door is a door. It is west of Cellar. Steel Door is locked. Description of Steel Door is "I wonder what this door goes to?" Steel Key unlocks Steel Door. Description of Basement is "You see a large room with a light hanging from the ceiling. There is a bookshelf on the wall with some books on it. Maybe there is something interesting in them? There is also a table in the corner of the basement." Bookshelf is a thing in Basement. Description of Bookshelf is "These books are all dusty and don't look like they have been moved in a long time. I wouldn't spend too much time on these. If there was something special here, I think that it would be a little bit more obvious." Bookshelf is fixed in place. Study is north of Basement. "There is another key on the ground. This key has some sort of ingraving on it." A Blue Key is here. The Description of Blue Key is "There is something engraved before the word 'Door' on the key but it's scratched out." After taking the Blue Key: increase the score by 5; say "You now have two keys. Be careful with how many things you hold onto!" Creepy Door is a door. It is west of Basement. Description of Creepy Door is "I wonder what this goes to?" Creepy Door is locked. The Silver Key unlocks Creepy Door. After opening Creepy Door: say "You fell down a laundry chute and died. Oh dear."; end the game in death. Basement Door is a door. It is east of Basement and west of Living Room. Description of Basement Door is "It seems like there is a lock of some kind that is preventing this door from being opened. The Silver Key will not open this door. Where is the other key?" Basement Door is locked. The Blue Key unlocks Basement Door. Description of Living Room is "You are far away now from the Cellar that you first woke up in. Your heart is racing a lot faster now the more you explore the area around you. You can see stairs that lead up." First Floor is a room. First Floor is above Living Room. Description of First Floor is "There seem to be no exits here. There is a piece of paper in the middle of the room and there seems to be only one door. I wonder if this door is locked or not?" Paper is a thing. Paper is in the First Floor. Description of Paper is "The word 'Attic' is written on the crinkled piece of paper. When you turn the piece of paper over, the words 'In the' are on the other side. 'In the Attic' reads the message." Attic is a room. Description of Attic is "This place looks deserted. There is no furniture up here and no doors. This place looks like a dead end." Steel Key is in Attic. Description of Steel Key is "Congratulations, you have found the key to escape this monstrous place. This is the largest and most elegant of the keys that you have encountered so far. It is lined with diamonds. Now you must find the door that it unlocks. Think about your journey so far…" After taking Steel Key: increase the score by 50; say "Good job! You found the last key to win the game! Now, find what it goes to and you won!" Attic Door is a door. Attic Door is locked. It is above First Floor and below Attic. Description of Attic Door is "Although you can see the Attic Door, you are unable to get in there (unless you have the way to get in!). If you don't, you are very close. If you do, what are you waiting for!" Your Room is a room. Your Room is north of First Floor. Description of Your Room is "For some reason, you are now in your bedroom. This is not your house, but you are now in your bedroom. With a confused look, you begin to look around. There are old pictures of you when you were little on the wall. Although this isn't a dream, it sure feels like one." pictures on the wall is a thing. pictures on the wall is in Your Room. pictures on the wall is fixed in place. Description of pictures on the wall is "Someone has placed these pictures here. You did not originally have them here. How did they get here? How did you get here? Are you really in your room? As the confusion heightens, you realize how important it is for you to escape this…place. You must keep going..." Bed is a thing. Bed is in Your Room. Bed is fixed in place. Description of Bed is "This is definitely your bed. The covers smell the same as they did in your own house. What is going on here?" Lying down is an action applying to nothing. Report lying down: say "You lie down for a while, then get up again. This floor is ridiculously dirty. What good did that do? You are still in a weird place. Sleeping isn't going to help you here!" Understand "lie down" as lying down. Attic Key is in Your Room. Attic Key unlocks Attic Door. Description of Attic Key is "Obviously this key unlocks the Attic. The engraving on it reads, 'The Steel Door' but where is that?" After taking Attic Key: increase the score by 10; say "This is a crucial part of the game. Now, unlock the attic with this key. You are so close!" After opening the Steel Door: say "Congratulations, you just won the game! You managed to find your way through this horrible place that you woke up in and managed to find the way out!"; end the game in victory. The maximum score is 70.
