"you see a running river ". the rowboat is in the river bank. rowboat is a vehicle. understand "boat" as rowboat. instead of going east in river bank when the player is not in the rowboat: say "silly you will drowned if you don't have a boat". book-middle of river middle of river is a room. middle of the river is east of river bank. "you see an otter". instead of going east in middle of the river when the player is not in the rowboat: say "silly you will drowned if you don't have a boat". instead of going west in middle of the river when the player is not in the rowboat: say "silly you will drowned if you don't have a boat".
