"The Mysterious Potion" by Russell and Vyom The story creation year is 2025. Use no scoring. Tent is east of Base Camp. Tent is a room. The description of Tent is "You had a business idea of opening a bakery, but nobody enjoyed your pastries and your business went bankrupt. The money you borrowed to open the shop wasn’t going to be repaid by itself, so you were looking for an idea to create a new business. Luckily, as you wandered somewhere far away from your village, you stumbled upon a purple potion book.[Paragraph Break][bold type]You decided to set up camp and set out for the ingredients, hoping to brew and sell potions.[roman type][Paragraph Break]You are inside your camping tent, which is made of white fabric on top of large sticks and branches in the shape of a triangular prism with one end open. It isn’t exactly animal-proof, although it was the most you could afford with your financial situation." Base Camp is a room. The description of Base Camp is "You are standing in a relatively open area of grass. In the area, you can see a few short trees and bushes, with your camping tent in the center. In front of the tent is a pot over a fire, which you set up for brewing potions. You can also see a thick forest to the north, a cave entrance to the west, and a large lake to the south. Your tent is on the east side from here. [bold type] Don't forget: When you have the ingredient you desire, you need to put in in the cauldron! [roman type]" Lucky Lake is a room. Lucky Lake is south of Base Camp. The description of Lucky Lake is "You think, 'I can see why they call it Lucky Lake.' Crystal clear, bright blue-green waters, with ducks and fish swimming all around. A rock trail leading to a deep area in the lake seems like the perfect fishing spot, so you go there." Funky Forest is a room. Funky Forest is north of Base Camp. The description of Funky Forest is "You find yourself in an opening of a dense, green forest. Darkness encloses the area with the plentiful trees towering over you, but the area is illuminated with a blue-purple glowing mushroom.[Paragraph Break]You think, No wonder this is called the Funky Forest.[Paragraph Break]In the thick grass, you see a small gold key shimmer, and to the east you see a trail." The Riddler's Route is a room. The Riddler's Route is east of Funky Forest. The description of Riddler's Route is "As you stand in the trail, you notice the trees seem to lessen, allowing more light in the area. A few feet away from you, you see that the trail crosses over a rapidly flowing river, and you wonder, 'Maybe the stream flows to a body of water nearby?' Unfortunately, the bridge seems to have collapsed a while ago, so the trail is a dead end. You notice a mysterious looking man in a dark blue cloak with his back to you, observing the river." Cryptic Caves is a room. Cryptic Caves is west of Base Camp. The description of Cryptic Caves is "West of your base camp, you hurried down steep, rugged boulders to reach the Cryptic Caves complex, a maze of mysterious caves. It seems like they never end, each passage is an infinite void of darkness. The base camp is back east from here, you will need to climb the rocks again." Secret Cave Room is a room. Secret Cave Room is north of stone door. The description of Secret Cave Room is "The rugged and heavy stone door reveals a small, dark room. The room looks man-made, it couldn't have formed naturally. Its walls are made of smooth, grey stone. There's a small chest in here too. Your attention is now on a small and slightly sparkling chest, on a stone table sitting right in the centre of the room.[Paragraph Break]Written on the wall behind, it says [bold type]YOU MADE IT THIS FAR, BUT DID YOU FIND THE KEY?[roman type] carved into the rock wall.[Paragraph Break]The main cave passage is south from here." Stone door is a closed door. Stone door is north of Caves. The description of stone door is "A rugged and heavy stone door." After opening stone door: say "When you open the door, a secret cave room is revealed! The room is very small, and has smooth stone walls and floor." The Rocky Slopes is a room. The Rocky Slopes is northwest of Cryptic Caves. The description of The Rocky Slopes is "You make your way through the creepy caves until you finally see some light. Climbing up and out of the cave, you are introduced to terrain with numerous cliffs and mammoth-sized holes in between the giant boulders." Instead of going east while in Rocky Slopes: end the story; say "You decide it would be a good idea to jump straight off the rocky slopes, and you crack your skull upon landing. I don't think that was a good idea. The description of The Woodlands is "After a difficult and dangerous trek across the unforgiving hot rocks of the slopes, you notice the Woodlands are a mix of the Rocky Slopes and the Funky Forest. Trees and shrubs are not as dense here compared to the Forest, but at least they provide some shade under the beaming sun and cool the burning rocks." Instead of going north while in Woodlands: end the story; say "You walk straight into a bunch of trees and knock yourself out. As you lay on the ground, a bear walks by and says 'Ooh! The description of The Green River is "Eventually, you can hear the calm and relaxing flow of water. Following the sound, you find yourself at the green river. The shoreline is wide and dominated by the same rocks from the jagged slopes but they are smoother and the heat is dissipated by the water. The water itself is cold, a deep green, but not the murky kind. Rather, it seems clear and healthy." Instead of going north while in Green River: end the story; say "You decide it would be a good idea to jump into the river, and you remember 'OH SHOOT! I FORGOT I CAN'T SWIM!' The description of Wooden Door is "A brown wooden door on the entrance of a wooden hut. It seems to be unlocked." After opening Wooden door: say "A nice hut. Suprisingly, the door is left unlocked!" The Hut is a room. The Hut is northwest of the wooden door. Instead of entering Hut: end the story finally saying "You enter the hut, and you see three bowls of porridge on a table, with three chairs and a bed. You didn't like all the bowls of porridge, chairs, or beds, except for all of the smallest ones. After eating the porridge, you went to bed. [bold type]AND THEN YOU WERE ATTACKED BY A FAMILY OF BEARS!!! You lose, and you become the inspiration of a story called 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears.'[roman type]" Notebook is in Tent. Instead of examining Notebook, say “The title says Special Potion Ingredients. Inside the book, there is a list of items, saying white mystery powder, fish, gem, berry, and mushroom. The book does not say what the special ingredient does.” After taking Notebook, say "You should probably inspect what the notebook says." Clock is in Tent. Instead of examining Clock, say “A small, wooden, ticking clock, around the size of your palm.” Cauldron is in Base Camp. The cauldron is a fixed in place container. Instead of examining cauldron, say “This cauldron looks exactly like a typical witch’s cauldron. [bold type] The cauldron already has a bubbly liquid inside of it, a base for your potion, and you just need to put in one ingredient to complete your potion.” Fish is in Lucky Lake. Instead of examining fish, say “A bright orange fish, a special potion ingredient. I wonder what it will do?” After taking fish, say “You manage to scoop the fish straight out of the water with your bare hands. Great Catch!” Gold Key is in Funky Forest. Instead of examining Gold Key, say “It's golden and it’s a key. Truly shocking.” Understand "small item" as Gold Key. Glowing Mushroom is in Funky Forest. Instead of examining Glowing Mushroom, say “It’s a cool blue-purple mushroom that glows.” Berry is in Funky Forest. Instead of examining berry, say “A small red berry. Nothing special.” After taking berry, say “You pluck the berry from the bush. Don’t eat it now, it is one of the special potion ingredients!” Riddler is a man in Riddler’s Route. "The Riddler is wearing a blue cloak and watching the flow of the river. Why don't you ask him about a potion ingredient?" Riddler can be calm or annoyed. Riddler is calm. Instead of asking riddler about "potion ingredient": say “The Riddler turns around and says, ‘I have a special mystery powder that may be useful to you. If you wish to have it, you must give to me the object that is the answer to my riddle. What has hands, but cannot clap?’ The Riddler turns back to the river.”; now riddler is annoyed Instead of asking annoyed riddler about "potion ingredient": say “The Riddler rolls his eyeballs and says, ‘As I told you before, I have a special mystery powder that may be useful to you. If you wish to have it, you must give to me the object that is the answer to my riddle. What has hands, but cannot clap?’ The Riddler turns back to the river once more.” Instead of asking annoyed riddler about "clock": say “‘The Riddler rubs his temples and says, without turning around, ‘Well great, you got the answer. NOW GIVE IT TO MEEEEEEEEEE!!!’” Instead of telling annoyed riddler about "clock": say "'The Riddler rubs his temples and says, without turning around, 'Well great, you got the answer. NOW GIVE IT TO MEEEEEEEEEE!!!" Instead of giving clock to Riddler: say "Thank you. In return, I shall tell you what I promised, which is the location of the mystery powder. The powder is located in a box in The Green River. To get there, you must find the Cryptic Caves, then go northwest to the Rocky Slopes, northeast to the Woodlands, and east to the Green River. Be sure to follow my instructions very carefully; one mistake could end in your demise."; continue the action. Salt is in Cryptic Caves. Instead of examining Salt, say “Perfect, orange chunk of salt; it's a base ingredient for your potion.” Chest is in Secret Cave Room. Chest is a fixed in place closed openable locked container. The Gold Key unlocks the chest. Inside the chest is gem. "There is a chest sitting in the center of the room." After taking gem: say "Wow, a beautiful, clear, almost transparent gem. It's one of the special ingredients for your potion according to the book." Sign is in woodlands. Instead of examining sign, say "The wooden sign says, go into the hut, northeast of where you are standing. Trust me, there is something very special inside!" Wooden Chest is in Green River. The wooden chest is a fixed in place closed openable container. Instead of examining Wooden Chest, say “A plain brown box made out of wood. Nothing really special about it.” Inside wooden chest is Powder. Instead of examining powder, say “A fine white powder. What did you expect?” After taking powder, say “You scoop the mystery powder and stuff it in your pocket. This powder better be worth the long walk.” Instead of inserting notebook into the cauldron: say "Let's not waste our time and do more productive things, shall we?" Instead of inserting clock into the cauldron: say "Let's not waste our time and do more productive things, shall we?" After inserting the gem into the cauldron: end the story finally saying "You put the beautiful gem into the cauldron, feeling kind of sad and wondering if the potion is worth less than the gem itself. Then, you take a sip of your new potion. [bold type]Suddenly, you become invisible! Then not invisible! Then invisible! And then you realize that you can become invisible on command! You still have a ton of the potion left, and it will definitely be a huge success for starting your business! [bold type] YOU WIN![roman type]” After inserting powder into cauldron: end the story finally saying “You put the mystery powder in the cauldron, then take a sip of your new potion. [bold type] Suddenly, you become much stronger than you were previously and your muscles grow rapidly in the span of a few seconds!!![roman type] Is this like buffed creatine? You go back to your village, and everyone admires you due to your new muscles. Fast forward a year, and your potion business is BOOMING! With your intelligent businessman brain, you use small doses of the mystery powder to keep attracting more attention and sell more as a result. [bold type] YOU WIN![roman type]" After inserting berry into cauldron: end the story finally saying “You put the berry in the cauldron, then take a sip of your new potion. It seems that the world around you suddenly becomes a hundred times bigger, but in reality, [bold type] YOU GET SHRUNK TO THE SIZE OF AN ANT!!![roman type] A man walks by while traveling to the nearest village and steps on you by accident because he didn’t see you, aw man. [bold type] YOU LOSE![roman type]" After inserting mushroom into cauldron: end the story finally saying “You put the glowing mushroom in the cauldron, then take a sip of your new potion. [bold type]YOU WERE POISONED![roman type] What did you even expect? The mushroom was glowing purple, it looked radioactive but you still chose to consume it! [bold type] YOU LOSE![roman type]" After inserting fish into cauldron: end the story; say "You put the orange fish in the cauldron, then take a sip of your new potion. Suddenly, you have the urge to go for a swim! You run to Lucky Lake, and as soon as you start swimming, you realize that you can [bold type] BREATHE UNDER WATER!!![roman type] Awesome! A few years later, an underwater village is created, using the power of your potion. The village is named after none other than yourself! Good job!!! [bold type] YOU WIN![roman type]" After inserting salt into the cauldron: end the story finally saying “You put the orange salt in the cauldron, then take a sip of your new potion. Unfortunately, your new potion just tasted really salty and had no effect, and your potion making business was an epic flop. Time to find another way to pay off your debts. [bold type] YOU LOSE![roman type]"
