Section 1 -- Rooms Outside Front Door is a room. "You're outside your front door. The door is to the west, and your front yard is to the south." The Front Hall is a room. It is west of Outside Front Door. The South Yard is a room. It is south of Outside Front Door. "This is the lovely south yard of your home. The area outside you front door is to the north." The doormat is in Outside Front Door. The description of the doormat is "An ordinary doormat." [Understand "mat" as the doormat.] The plaster chicken is in the South Yard. It is a closed openable container. The key is in the plaster chicken. The note is a thing. The description of the note is "The note reads, 'The chicken hides the spare.'" The key is in the plaster chicken. [The oak door is in Outside Front Door.] Section 3 -- Rules When play begins, say "You've made it to your home, as usual, but it seems that you've forgotten your key." Instead of doing something to the doormat for the first time: move the note to the player; say "You find a note under the doormat and pick it up." Instead of going west in Outside Front Door: say "You can't get through the door without the key." Instead of going west in Outside Front Door when the player carries the key: say "You unlock the door and enter your house."; move the player to the front hall. Every turn when the player is in the Front Hall: say "You have made it inside!"; end the story. [Instead of doing something to the oak door when the player is in Outside Front Door: try going west.]
