The house looked so close from so far away. Your legs ache and your head is throbbing, but you finally make it. It's a dark, isolated house situated miles away from the nearest sign of human life. You don't know how you ended up here. Come to think of it, you don't know a lot of things. Who are you? How did you get here?"; now the score is 25. An every turn rule: If the score is at most 0: say "The severity of your injuries has reached its high point, and your tolerance its breaking point. You fall to the ground, unresponsive."; end the game in death. At 9:40 am: say "Suddenly, the room starts to spin. You feel the pain in your stomach a second time. You estimate you have an hour and a half left." At 10:00 am: say "The room spins for a third time. You slap a clammy hand over your mouth to keep you from vomiting. You estimate you have an hour and ten minutes left." At 10:20 am: say "You stagger a bit, trying to grasp something to support you. The headache is debilitating and your stomach is killing you, quite literally. You estimate you only have fifty minutes left." At 10:40 am: say "A new symptom occurs: you cough over and over until you feel something in your mouth. You spit it out. It is blood. You estimate you only have thirty minutes left." At 10:55 am: say "You suffer another bout of coughing, spitting up blood in the process. The blood looks a little blue this time. It is disconcerting. You estimate you have fifteen minutes left." At 11:11 am: say "Your time is up. You cough repeatedly, spitting up both red and blue blood. Your exhaustion and migraine force you to the ground, where you slowly continue to die."; end the game in death. Instead of examining the player: say "Cut, bruised, and exhausted." [HOUSE FRONT] The House Front is a room. It is south of the front door. "A wide house stretches before you. The walls are made of unpainted wood, with two windows on either side of the door to the north. You fail to locate a doorbell, but spot a mailbox to the right." You start to worry about how you got here, and what you may have eaten. You wonder how much time you have left. Perhaps you can find a watch inside.[end if]" [front door] The front door is a door. It is north of the House Front. It is closed and openable. Instead of examining the front door: say "A heavy wooden door." [MAIN HALLWAY] The Main Hallway is a room. It is north of the front door. "The main hallway reaches from east to west of the house. Its concrete pathway also leads to door to the north. You find it rude to barge into a someone else's home like this, but you are exhausted and to be honest, a bit lonely." [watch] The watch is a thing. It is in the Main Hallway. The description is "A digital watch. It says the time is [time of day]." [EAST HALLWAY] The East Hallway is a room. It is east of the Main Hallway. "You walk to the east wing of the large house. "Cabinets and shelves full of animal food encompass the small desk sitting in the middle of the room. There is a mirror propped up on the east wall. Instead of examining entry 8/02: say "You take Entry 8/02 from the desk. It reads: [italic type]The project is finished. We dug into the earth about two miles out from the house. The project was installed into the hole. It was a difficult project and we still have not tested it on humans. If it works, it should give the person temporary features of animals. Although when I say 'temporary,' I mean to say 'until the person dies.' It was one of the flaws. Seth is becoming more withdrawn. He eats less and less every day. He mentioned something about his work not being appreciated, although I know this is untrue[roman type]. [if the player is in the store room]Animal features? How Curious! The rats we tested them on all died, but what are rats to giant mutant lizards? The product will work fine, should the need to use it arrive. It wasn't much of a distraction. To prepare the solution: mix green power with water to make solution, mix solution with gray powder.[roman type] 'Sofiya? Seth? Gray?' You say the names out loud, hoping that it can bring back memories. You think you remember Sofiya… Blonde hair? Brown eyes? And Gray? Gray never liked you… …Wait what?" [THE STUDY] The Study is a room. It is north of the Main Door. "It's a room full of books and papers and scattered pencils and notes and picture frames… It's chaotic is here, but you like it.[if the lizard is in the Study] But you could do without the giant lizard.[end if] The Grand Doors are to the north and the Main Doors to your south." The lizard is a neuter animal. It is in the study. The description is "A hideous creature with sharp claws and sharper teeth." Understand "use [something]" as using. Using is an action applying to one thing. Instead of using the sedative: say "Try giving it to the lizard instead." [THE LAST ROOM] The Last Room is a Room. It is north of the grand doors. The corpse is a thing. It is in the last room. The description is "It's a body no longer carrying a soul. You prefer not to describe it any further." Instead of examining the corpse for the first time: say "'Sofiya!' Was that her name? Wait… It comes back to you! You are Seth Girard. You are a scientist, and this woman is your partner. Or was. You realize the poison you ingested was your latest project: a substance that causes the subject to painfully sprout ultramarine wings. You see a torn sheet of notebook paper, titled 'Entry 9/21,' in her right hand."; move Entry 9/21 to the last room. The mantle is a supporter in the last room. The description is "A mantle, supporting a lone blue frame." The blue frame is a thing on the mantle. The description is "A frame holding a picture in which a man and woman smile at each other, seated at a dinner table in what seems to be a high-class restaurant. Strange. The man looks like the man you saw in the mirror some time ago in the Store Room…" Instead of taking the blue frame: say "You'd rather not." Entry 9/21 is in the last room. Instead of examining Entry 9/21: say "A page of hanwritten regret and sorrow. It reads [italic type]If he ever makes it back home, this apoligia is addressed to Seth: Seth, my dearest Seth. What have I done? It was only a few days ago when I had reached the point I could no longer tolerate your despondency. I noticed the changes in your behavior when you began considering self-murder. I couldn't take it. You deserve to live. On that day, I selectively cleared your memory. If it was successful, you shouldn't remember your depression, your suffering… or me… I sent you away from the lab shortly after. I still find it unlikely that you will ever return, but at the least, this letter may grant me some form of justification in the deed, even for a little while. I soon realized I could not bear being separated from you. The lab is silent, the work is monotonous… Is this the punishment for my misguided endeavor? I have come to realize that this punishment will never be enough. I will take my own life and pay the ultimate price. Should you ever return, I would like you to know I perfected the remedy of the ultramarine project.[roman type] You see the cure in the hand of the corpse."; move cure to the last room.
