A room can be timed or untimed. X is a number variable. X is 0. When play begins: say “Prison has been hell these past couple of years. Wouldn’t it be great if you could escape somehow. One morning you awake to the sound of sirens and loud noises. You notice that the door to your cell is open. Do you wish to go out into the hall and see what’s going on or is it better to stay where you are?†The cell is a room. “You’re in a cramped cell, there is nothing special about it. However, you notice that your cellmate, Andy Duphrane, is missing. The cell exits to the east.†The cell is an untimed room. The hallway is east of the cell. “The sirens are louder here. All of the other cells in the cellblock are open as well. Your cell is on the west wall, and there is an open room to the south.†The hallway is untimed. The adjoining room is south of the hallway. The adjoining room is an untimed room. “The unconscious guard is in the adjoining space. The unconscious guard is holding an open chest to the south side of the room. The gun is by the guard in the chest. There are three doors here, one leading north to the cellblock, one west to the Control room, or a red door leading east to the next hall.†A chest is in the adjoining room. It is fixed in place. The gun is in the chest. The chest is an open container. The unconscious guard is on the south side of the room. Shooting it with is an action applying to two things. Check shooting something with something: if the player is not carrying the gun, say "You don't have a gun!" instead; if the second noun is not the gun, say "That doesn't feel like something you should attack with." instead; if the noun is not the regular guard, say "That doesn't seem like a very good idea." instead. Carry out shooting regular guard with gun: say "You take aim at the guard and pull the trigger. The shot rings out and the he collapses into a heap. Your friend gives you an appreciative nod before yelling at you to get out of here."; remove regular guard from play. Understand "shoot [gun] at [something ungunlike]" as shooting it with (with nouns reversed). Definition: a thing is ungunlike if it is not the gun. Understand "shoot [something ungunlike] with [gun]" as shooting it with. Understand "shoot [something] with [something]" as shooting it with. Understand "wire cutters" as wire cutter. The description of the wire cutter is "These should help get through the fence outside." The blue key unlocks the cabinet. The hall is east of the red door. "A long, narrow hallway that leads to the yard. The main prison complex is back to the west, and to the east is the 'great' outdoors."The hall is untimed. The yard is a timed room. " You see mayhem out here. The entrance to the prison is to the west, and to the north, past the fence, you see a car waiting on the road. [if the yard is unvisited] There is a fight going on between one of your friends and a guard, but it looks like it won't be long before the guards get the situation under control. The description of the regular guard is "A prison guard, caught up in a struggle with your friend.". Understand "guard" as regular guard. The fence is a door. The description of the fence is "A massive wall of chain link and razor wire, it's probably best to cut through this." A car is a room. The car is north of the fence. "Upon getting closer, you see that the car is unlocked, and with the key in the ignition. Someone must have left it as a getaway car for one of the other prisoners. Whatever, it's yours now." Carry out going to a unvisited timed room: now the time of day is 11 AM. At 11:05 AM: say "You took too long to escape and now the guards have caught you."; End the story. Every turn: If the player is in the car: If X is 1: say "You start the car and drive off into the distance. Looking in the rearview mirror you see no police cars following you, it seems you've successfully escaped from prison."; end the story; otherwise: say "You start the car and drive off into the distance. A few days after your escape, you are caught by the police. It seems that the security cameras recorded you getting into the car, and now you will go back to jail."; end the story.
