"The Greenhouse" by Jessica Reingold The porch is a room. The description of the porch is "It is a lovely, bright, cloudless, Spring day. It also happens to be Saturday, your favorite day, because you don't have to go into work. You decide that with your free time you are going to break out the old bicycle and ride around town. You go into your garage, wipe off the tarp that has been covering your bike, check the tire pressure, which is decent enough, and then open the garage door. As the garage door is opening, you grab your helmet from the shelf (safety first!), get onto your bike and think about which direction you'll go. You can either go straight towards downtown or go the back route by the wooded creek that will eventually end up downtown. The garage door screeches to stop as it fully opens, and you decide that since it beautiful outside, you'll take the creek way. After riding along the creek for about 20 minutes, you see come across a path on the other side of the road that goes across a wood plank bridge over the creek and into the woods. Your feeling adventurous today, so you decide to zip across the road, to the path. As you are crossing the street, the bright sunlight blinds you for a second, but you make it to the other side and follow the path across the simple bridge and follow it into the woods. The path isn't paved, it's just dirt, so it's a little bumpy but nothing you can't manage. After about a quarter of mile (although who knows, you're terrible at calculating distances), you come a old, seemingly abandoned house. You decide to ride up to it. Staring up at the house, which is covered in broken white paint, you decide you want to check it out. You get off bike, push the kickstand down with your foot, take off your helmet, snap the straps around the handle, and walk up the stairs onto the porch. The green front door to house is cracked open. You're tempted to go inside.". The green door is a door. The green door is open. The green door is north of the foyer. Above the knob is a glass key hole.". The description of the Greenhouse is "The Greenhouse is incredible. There are tons of plants and flowers that appear to be separated by type and color. To the right you see various succulents, in front of you is bunch of flowering plants laid out in the order of the rainbow, and to the left are green non-flowering plants, and in the back you can see few small fruit trees. You wonder how everything in here could still be alive, but then you notice a hose running along the top of the walls as if it were crown molding and a ticking clock mounted on the back wall. You realize you should check the time since you're supposed to go to your's friend's barbecue this evening at 5pm.". The clock is in the Greenhouse. Instead of going north in the greenhouse for the first time: say "You should really check the time.". The description of the clock is "The clock strikes 4pm, which means you still have hour to explore and all of the sudden the sprinkler system turns on. A light mist is sprayed from tiny holes all throughout the hose going around the Greenhouse. You're clothes are getting wet, which is refreshing but also somewhat unpleasant. You decide you want to leave before you get too soaked. As you are walking back, you slip. As a result, you like go of your grasp of the glass key. It hits [a flowerpot], which breaks [the glass key], leaving [nothing] behind. No bother that shouldn't be a problem since you've already opened the glass door.". A flowerpot is a thing. A flowerpot is in the Greenhouse. Every turn when the glass door was open: now the glass door is closed. Every turn when the glass door was unlocked: now the glass door is locked. Instead of going north in the greenhouse for the second time: say "'Great,' you mutter, 'How am I going to get out now?' The hours pass, the sun goes down. You start to lose faith that someone will stumble across this house and find you. You eventually slump down on the floor which dried long ago when the sprinklers turned off. You drift off..." A person is either awake or asleep. Instead of waking up when the player is asleep: now the player is awake; move the player to Hospital. Instead of waking up: now the player is awake; say "You come to suddenly and are very confused. You have no clue where you are." Hospital is a room. The description of the Hospital is "You figure out that you are lying down, and you see a stranger coming over to you. She appears to be a nurse. In a softer but excited voice she says 'well look who decided to wake up! It's a good thing you decided to wear your helmet, that fall off your bike was nasty. You've been a coma for the last few days.' 'In a coma?! you think to yourself. What about the abandoned house and the Greenhouse?' You blood pressure and heart rate begin to rise as you freak out about your alternate reality experience. Your mind races: 'It felt so real...how could it not be real?' 'Calm down please, you don't want to induce more brain swelling.' 'Brain swelling? What the hell happened?!' you panic internally. A noise breaks your train of chaotic thought." Instead of listening to the hospital: end the story saying "You hear the heart rate monitor beeping extremely fast, and notice your blood pressure measurements underneath the heart rate monitor are crazy high. You listen to the nurse trying to tell you something. 'Calm down? Stroke?' You cannot make it it out. You close your eyes trying to concentrate on her voice. And then there was nothing...just silence. As you slowly open your eyes wondering why you cannot hear anything, you see a flowerpot and broken pieces of glass. You are back in the Greenhouse and could not be more content.".
