"Survive!" by Jordan Mann The story genre is "Survival". The release number is 0. The story headline is "A survival game". The story description is "Are you ready?" E is a number that varies. When play begins, change E to 85. When play begins, change the right hand status line to "Everything: [E]". After opening pack for the first time: Say "Looks like there's an apple in there. You really should eat it (naturally, looking at the item first to admire the author's description of it)." [When play begins, change the left hand status line to "It is [time of day] at [location]".][Brackets indicate a comma.] Include Exit Lister by Eric Eve. When play begins, say "[italic type]Welcome to [roman type]Survive![italic type] For all you newbies out there, I've put together a simple guide for playing. To navigate, type commands like 'n,' 'north,' or 'go north.' Other actions, such as 'open door' or 'take all' are usually rather intuitive. [bold type]Remember! [roman type][italic type]'Look at'[bold type] objects!" When play begins, say "[roman type][italic type]Also: instead of adding a bunch of variables to monitor your well-being (health, hunger, thirst, constipation, etc.), I just made one, called 'Everything'. You can monitor it by looking in the upper-right hand corner of your screen. Try to keep it at 100, the maximum– it'll decrease over time and when you do bad things, but performing survival skills should keep it up. [bold type]Don't go below 1!" Food is a kind of thing. Food is usually edible. Food has a number called the bonus. Instead of eating food when E is greater than 99: [must fix!!!] Say "You're not hungry right now." Carry out eating something: Change E to E + bonus; Say "Yum! I added [bonus] everything points to your score." After eating food when E is greater than 100: Change E to 100. Carry out taking inventory: Say "While meager survival supplies, you're pretty sure these will last quite a while." Camp is a room. The description of camp is "[if Camp is visited]Your primitive camp. Supplies are neatly organized around you.[else]You wake up with a start, unaware of your surroundings (just like any other text-adventure game). Groggily, you take in your surroundings. You are in a makeshift survival camp in the midst of a dense jungle. To your north is a rugged path, probably hacked away by a machete. Your supplies lay on the ground." A machete is here. The description of the machete is "It's a high-quality machete. Looks like it has taken quite a beating, but it seems rather usable." Instead of dropping the machete: say "Are you sure about that? It looks like you might cut some of your toes off." A pack is here. The pack is a closed, openable container. The description of the pack is "It's a pretty nice survival pack. I think it could hold a lot of stuff." An apple is in the pack. The apple is food. The bonus of the apple is 15. The description of the apple is "Wow, an apple! These don't grow in the jungle, so you must have brought it with you (or someone put it there, but you suspect not). Looks like it's got [bonus] everything points." The Jungle Path is north of camp. The description of the path is "A rugged path, probably hacked by the machete [if the player has the machete]in your hand.[else]at the [location of machete]." [Manning is an action applying to nothing. Understand "Jrmann100 is the best" as manning. Report manning: say "Good day, master. Mannmode is now on."; now E is 100.] The pamphlet is a closed, openable container. The pamphlet is in the Jungle Path. The description of the pamphlet is "How interesting! A Boy Scout Merit badge pamphlet! It looks like whoever was here last was trying to fulfill a Merit Badge requirement, and hey– on the very first page, there's an inscription by the author!" Check opening the pamphlet: Say "Whoosh! You open the pamphlet to the first page." The page is in the pamphlet. Understand "inscription" as the page. The page is fixed in place. The description of the page is "The inscription on the page reads: 'For Jrmann100 and all of his coding adventures. Good luck on completing the Merit Badge!' There is a signature, but it is smudged and therefore unreadable. You assume the note is from the author's Merit Badge counselor, his author's parents, or someone in his Boy Scout Troop." Joining is an action applying to nothing. Understand "Join the Boy Scouts" or "Join the BSA" or "Join Scouts" as joining. Report joining: say "Let's focus on getting out of this [location] before we join a Boy Scout Troop, okay?" Harvesting is an action applying to one visible thing. Understand "Cut [something]" or "Harvest [something]" as harvesting.
