The garage is a room. "You are in the garage. To the north is the kitchen." The car is in the garage. 

The kitchen is north of the garage. "You are in the kitchen. You see a kitchen knife but not your pocket knife." The kitchen knife is in the kitchen. 

The den is west of the kitchen. "You are in the den. There is a Couch that always seems to suck things out of your pockets." 

The couch is in the den. 
The dollar is in the couch.

The bedroom is west of the den. "You are in the bedroom. There is a bed and you think your knife may have gotten put in your dresser by your mom." The dresser is in the bedroom. A cat is in the dresser. 

The backyard is north of the bedroom. "You are in the backyard. In the middle of the yard is a tree with something shiny stuck in it. Upon closer examination you realize it is your pocket knife!!!"

The office is north of the Den. "You are in the office. Just your desk and computer are the only thing that really catches your attention."

The backyard is west of the office.
