[INTRODUCTION]
"you are in front of an abandoned mansion. the rusty iron gate is in front of you."


[mansion entryway] 
the mansion entryway is a room. the description of the mansion entryway is "you are standing in the mansion entryway. you jump as lightning hits the ground not ten yards from you. there are two doors to either side of you, and a gate  in front of you."

[study]
the study is north of the west hallway. the study is a room. the description of the study is " you enter the study and see a ghost in the room. before you can cry out, it vanishes. was it just your imagination? as you stare at the spot where the ghost was, you see what looks like a keyhole, and the faint outline of a door to the north."

[secret passageway]

secret passageway is a room. secret passageway is north of secret  door. the description of the secret passageway is " you are in a dimly lit corridor, and as you walk, you here a sickening crunch. as you look down and stifle a scream. you have stepped in a human rib cage." 

[labyrinth]
labyrinth is a room. labyrinth is north of secret passageway. the description of labyrinth is "as you enter the labyrinth, you see the ghost again. it looks exactly like your old math teacher, Mr.Moore. the ghost beckons for you to follow, and, against your better judgement, you follow. the ghost leads you left, then right, and left again. finally, you see light up ahead, and the ghost dissipates."


[treasure room]
treasure room is a room. treasure room is northwest of labyrinth.

venomous snake is an object in goblin room. after taking venomous snake: say "the snake bites you and you die because this is a lose condition."; end the game in death.


[hall]
hall is a room. hall is northeast of west hallway and north of  courtyard. the description of hall is "you are in a long corridor. you see a blue rubber ball and start bouncing it on the floor, when suddenly it bounces away. as you walk down the hall, you see the ball in the exact center or the hall. next to it on the wall, written in blood, is your name."

iron door is southeast of hall and northwest of small room. iron door is a door. iron door is closed.

[small room]
small room is a room. the description of the small room is "you are in a small room. the only light comes from a flickering light bulb hanging from the ceiling. to the south is a hole."


[edge of the pit]
edge of the pit is a room. edge of the pit is south of the small room. the description of edge of the pit is "you are standing by the edge of a small chasm. you might be able to climb down the side."


[halfway down]
halfway down is a room. halfway down is down from edge of the pit. the description of halfway down is "you are on a ledge halfway down. from here you can see the bottom of the pit."
