"Tip" by Sam Damon. A thing can be flipped or tipped or neutral. A thing is usually tipped. The player is neutral. Before flipping when the tipflip control is flipped: say "You have already flipped."; stop the action. Before tipping when the tipflip control is tipped: say "You have already tipped."; stop the action. When play begins: now the tipflip control is neutral. The tipflip control is a thing. Every turn when the player is holding the tipflip control: now the tipflip control is off-stage; say "That is an integral part of the game. Do not dabble with this." Every turn when the player is in the Hub: if tipflip control is tipped: now tipflip control is neutral; if tipflip control is flipped: now tipflip control is neutral; if tipflip control is neutral: do nothing. Understand "tip" as tipping. Tipping is an action applying to nothing. Carry out tipping: say "Tipping is not supported in this room." Understand "flip" as flipping. Flipping is an action applying to nothing. Report flipping: say "Flipping is not supported in this room." Understand "help" as asking for help. Asking for help is an action applying to nothing. Carry out asking for help: say "Try 'tip' to tip.[paragraph break]Try 'flip' to flip.[paragraph break]Try 'select' to switch levels.[paragraph break]Try 'hint' for hints. Only use this if you are completely stumped.[paragraph break]Try 'hub' to return to the hub." Understand "select" or "select level" or "sel" as selecting level. Selecting level is an action applying to nothing. Carry out selecting level: say "Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4 Level 5 Type a level number below. "; now the command prompt is "Choose a level: ". After reading a command when the command prompt is "Choose a level: ": let LSEL be indexed text; let LSEL be player's command in lower case; if LSEL exactly matches the text "1": if the player is in Level 1: say "You are already here."; if the player is not in Level 1: say "Welcome to Level 1."; now the player is in Level 1; otherwise: say "That is not a recognized level."; now the command prompt is ">"; rule succeeds. Understand "hub" as going to the hub. Going to the hub is an action applying to nothing. Carry out going to the hub: if the player is in the Hub: say "You are already here."; if the player is not in the Hub: say "Welcome to the Hub."; now the player is in the Hub. Book 0- The Hub and Instructional Section 1 - The Hub The Hub is a room. "[if unvisited]Welcome to the Hub. Here you can enter different levels, and go to the instructional tip room. To enter the instructional, go down. To enter the game, go up.[otherwise]You can go up to start or continue a game, or go down to the instructional room.[end if]" Instead of going down when the player is in the Hub: say "Welcome to Instructional."; now the player is in Instructional. Instead of going up when the player is in the Hub: say "You have been taken to Level 1. If you ever need help, type 'help'. Good luck!"; now the player is in Level 1. Section 2 - Instructional Instructional is a room. "[if unvisited]Welcome to the Instructional Room. Here, you can learn how to tip. Type 'tip' to tip time and space backward. Try it now. Type 'tip'. [end if]To return to the Hub, go up. To ask for help, type 'help'." Instead of going up when the player is in Instructional: say "Welcome to the Hub."; now the player is in the Hub. The chunk of coal is a thing in Instructional. The description is "A large piece of coal." The leaf is a thing. The description is "A large leaf, the predecessor of coal." To tip Instructional: now the coal is off-stage; now the leaf is in Instructional; now the tipflip control is tipped. To flip Instructional: now the leaf is off-stage; now the coal is in Instructional; now the tipflip control is flipped. Instead of tipping in Instructional when there is a chunk of coal: say "Tip successful."; tip Instructional. Instead of tipping in Instructional for the first time: say "That's how you tip! Look around and see what's changed! There is also a thing called flipping, which reverts any tipped object back to what it is. Try it after you look around. Type 'flip'."; tip Instructional. Instead of flipping in Instructional for the first time: say "You flipped successfully! Congratulations. That's all there is to it. Try it around for a bit, or go up in the Hub to enter the game."; flip instructional. Instead of flipping in Instructional: say "Flip successful."; flip Instructional. Instead of asking for help when the player is in Instructional: say "Type 'tip' to tip, and 'flip' to flip." Book 1- Levels Section 1 - Level 1 Level 1 is a room. "[if unvisited]Welcome to Level 1. If you are unsure what do to do, please type 'hub' to return to the Hub and take the tutorial. [end if]This is a mostly blank, featureless room. A soft blue light pulses from somewhere up ahead, to the north." Instead of tipping in Level 1: say "Go north." Instead of flipping in Level 1: say "Go north." Level 1 Continued is north of Level 1. "Similar to to the original room, this one is featureless. You can return somewhere behind you." The blue orb is a thing in Level 1 Continued. The description is "A softly glowing blue orb." The red orb is a thing. Before going north when the player is in Level 1: now tipflip control is flipped. Before going south when the player is in Level 1 Continued: now tipflip control is neutral. To tip L1cont: say "Tip successful."; now the red orb is in the location of the blue orb; now the blue orb is off-stage; now tipflip control is tipped. Instead of tipping in Level 1 Continued: tip L1cont. To flip L1cont: say "Flip successful."; now the blue orb is in the location of the red orb; now the red orb is off-stage; now tipflip control is flipped. Instead of flipping in Level 1 Continued: flip L1cont. Instead of taking the blue orb: say "As you touch the blue orb, it seems to expand until it completely surrounds you."; now tipflip control is flipped; now the blue orb is off-stage; now the player is in the Blue Glow. The Blue Glow is a room. "Visibility is dim, and you cannot see any clear way to go." Instead of tipping in the Blue Glow: now the red orb is in Level 1 Continued; say "As you flip, the entire blue shrinks and distorts until it is a globe of red, resting on the floor."; now tipflip control is tipped; now the player is in Level 1 Continued. Instead of taking the red orb: say "Level one completed. Congratulations!"; move the player to Level 2; now tipflip control is flipped; remove the red orb from play; now the blue orb is in Level 1 Continued. Section 2 - Level 2 Level 2 is a room.
