Chapter 1- Shark Tank & Surrounding Areas

The Shark Tank is a room. "A bubbling tank filled with sharks. Very, very dangerous. Water is completely surrounding you, and you can barely make out glass walls showing into a room. You can go up, or down."

When play begins:
	say "[italic type]This is an Inform project solely for the purpose of testing.[paragraph break]Warning: Some features may be buggy, strange, or unfinished.[roman type][paragraph break]"

The player is wearing a swimsuit. The player is wearing a snorkel. 

Shark attack is a scene. Shark attack begins when the player is in Shark Tank for the tenth turn. 

When shark attack begins:
	if the hungry-looking shark is in the Shark Tank:
		say "The sharks are drawing nearer...[paragraph break] Oh no! The sharks have reached you! As the chomp off your head, you regret ever jumping into this tank.";
		if the player is in the Shark Tank, end the story;
	if the hungry-looking shark is not in the Shark Tank:
		say "You feel odd, as if someone was walking over your grave... you have a feeling that the fake fish saved your life."
	
The hungry-looking shark is an animal in the Shark Tank. The description of the hungry-looking shark is "It glares at you, deciding whether or not you are worth eating."

Shark warning is a scene. Shark warning begins when the player is in the Shark Tank for nine turns. 

When shark warning begins:
	if the hungry-looking shark is in the Shark Tank:
		say "The hungry-looking shark glares at you more pentratingly than before, then swims off into the distance, as if to bring its quote unquote 'friends' to eat you. You should [italic type]get out of here now![roman type]";
	if the hungry-looking shark is not in the Shark Tank:
		say ""
	
Instead of taking the hungry-looking shark:
	say "The shark snaps at you and almost eats your fingers."
	
Instead of giving the fake fish to the hungry-looking shark:
	say "The shark attempts to snap at it, but the fake fish speeds between its teeth and swims into the gloom beyond. The shark follows it, and you find yourself alone, and safe for now, in the tank.";
	now the fake fish is off-stage;
	now the hungry-looking shark is off-stage.
	
Instead of taking the hungry-looking shark for the second time:
	say "The shark is angry at you and...";
	end the story saying "The shark ate you up. Don't tempt your luck next time."
	
Instead of going down when the player is in the Shark Tank and the hungry-looking shark is in the Shark Tank:
	say "The shark looks at you and swims beneath you, blocking the way."
	
Understand "pet [something]" or "stroke [something]" as petting. Petting is an action applying to one visible thing.

Instead of petting the player:
	say "You cannot pet yourself."
		
Instead of petting a thing:
	say "You pet [the noun]."

Instead of petting the hungry-looking shark for the first time:
	say "The shark does not like this and snaps at you. You jerk your hand away just in time."
	
Instead of petting the hungry-looking shark for the second time:
	say "The shark, annoyed and hungry, sinks its fangs into your arm.";
	end the story saying "You have died of blood loss."
	
Before going up when the player is in the Shark Tank:
	say "You climb up an old metal ladder, and get up, dripping, in the..."
	
After dropping the fake fish in the Shark Tank:
	say "The fake fish springs to life. Surpringly, it doesn't electrocute you. It speeds off into the distance, and the shark follows it.";
	now the hungry-looking shark is off-stage;
	now the fake fish is off-stage.
	
Section 1- Above the Shark Tank

The Feeding Area is above the Shark Tank. "The feeding area where the zookeepers toss hunks of dead meat and fish to the sharks is deserted at the moment, besides from you. A bare lightbulb hangs from the ceiling, providing light for the room. Large metal crates are stacked against the wall, full of hoops, or fake fish for the crowds to enjoy. You can go down, or north."

The large metal crate is in the Feeding Area. The large metal crate is an openable lockable container. The large metal crate is open. The shark hoops are in the large metal crate. The fake fish is in the large metal crate.

The description of the shark hoops is "Large plastic hoops, resembling hula hoops. It's sad that they use this junk for the animals here." The description of the fake fish is "An old plastic toy. It has large broken chunks out of it where internal wiring is showing. Small, faded words on the other side of the fish say 'Fish 2000! The ultimate fake fish! Stun your audience!' [if the hungry-looking shark is in the Shark Tank]It looks as if this could get the shark to go away, if it doesn't electrocute you first.[end if]"

The bare lightbulb is fixed in place in the Feeding Area. The description of the lightbulb is "It's fixed to the wall very plainly. There is no visible way to turn it on or off from here. It must be activated by some light switch somewhere else." Understand "bulb" as the lightbulb.

Instead of taking the large metal crate:
	say "You try to lift it, but you only succeed in exhausting yourself."
	
The electric clock is fixed in place in the Feeding Area. The description of the electric clock is "The red numbers on it indicate that the time is [time of day]."

Before going north when the player is in the Feeding Area:
	say "You exit through the 'Staff Only' door and into..."
	
Before going down when the player is in the Feeding Area:
	say "You jump into the waters of the..."

Section 1- Exhibit

The Shark Tank Exhibit is north of the Feeding Area. "An indoor area, very dirty and slightly spooky. The water from the shark tank filters through the small room, and the shark inside of the shark tank glares at you, as if it wanted to eat you.  You came from a small 'Staff Only' door to the south, and the exit to this unnerving place is to the west, but the door seems locked."

Before going south when the player is in the Shark Tank Exhibit:
	say "You open up the small 'Staff Only' door and enter..."
	
The angry shark is scenery in the Shark Tank Exhibit. The description is "The shark glares at you angrily and swims in circles."

Instead of going west when the player is in the Shark Tank Exhibit:
	say "You press against the door, but it's locked. The zoo must have closed."
	
Instead of examining west when the player is in the Shark Tank Exhibit:
	say "You see a dingy door with the zoo's logo painted all over it. It appears to be locked."
	
Section 1- The Passage

The Gloomy Murk is below the Shark Tank. "Visibilty is dim here. From the details you can make out through the darkness, this is the bottom of the tank. A thick layer of silt and shark dung, maybe an inch thick, has settled here."

The silt shark dung is scenery in the Gloomy Murk. The description is "Thick, brown, and disgusting."

The metal grate is a door. The metal grate is below the Gloomy Murk and above the Underground Passage. Understand "trapdoor" as the metal grate.

The description of the metal grate is "The grate itself is just a circular metal panel. It appears, however, that the grate has hinges attached to the side. The grate appears to be a trapdoor. Through it, you can see a dripping, stone passageway leading into the darkness."

Instead of going down in the Gloomy Murk when the metal grate is closed:
	say "You have to open the metal grate before you go down."
	
Instead of going up in the Underground Passage when the metal grate is closed:
	say "The metal grate is closed. You would have to open it to go up."

The Underground Passage is a room below the metal grate. "[if the grate is open]Water is pouring through the open trapdoor in the ceiling and flowing off into the passageways to the north, east, and south.[otherwise if the grate is closed]A dripping, damp passageway, the walls covered in wet moss. Small puddles on the floor reflect the dim light coming from the shark tank. The entire passageway extends into the darkness north, south, and east, and you can go up.[end if]"

The Primate-Smelling Passage is east of the Underground Passage. "[if unvisited]As you step into this room, a pungent odor of primates hits you. Not unlike the room from which you just entered, this passage is damp and water has pooled on the floor. [end if]There is a trapdoor above that you can enter, or you can go back west. The passage dead-ends here. It smells strongly of primates."

The description of the Monkey Exhibit is "[if unvisited]Brushing dirt off aside, you look inspect your surroundings. [end if]Fake palm trees and tropical plants are strewn throughout this exhibit. There is a sheet of to the south wall, and through it you can see a room. You can go down, or up, climbing palm trees to the next layer of the exhibit."

The old metal grate is up of the Primate-Smelling Passage and down of the Monkey Exhibit. The old metal grate is a door. The old metal grate is closed. Understand "trapdoor" as the old metal grate.
