The kitchen is a room. "You open your eyes and wonder why your head hurts. You sit up and look around and discover that you are in a kitchen. An avocado colored stove stands to your right, and the matching refrigerator looms over your head to the left. You are on the floor and you feel heat coming from the stove. Through blurry eyes, you see a darkened hall to the north. On its eastern side, you see the dark blur of another door." A stove is fixed in place in the kitchen. A pot of boiling water is fixed in place in the kitchen. The stove is a device. The pot of boiling water is a container. The stove is switched on. Inside the pot of boiling water is lots of smoke and a now-failed attempt at pasta. Test me with "turn off stove/turn off pot/look inside pot." North of the kitchen is a dark hall. The hall is a room. "To the north, you see a darkened hall. It's walls are lined with pictures of people unfamiliar to you. You should turn on the switch." A light switch is fixed in place in the hall. The light switch is a device. The light is switched off. Instead of switching on the light : say "Light floods the hall. You examine the pictures more carefully. You see a little girl with braids and freckles. You see a small boy in a baseball uniform. You see a family picture taken at Christmas time. Who are these people? As your headache begins to clear, you start to also wonder, Who are you and why are you in this house? Another door beckons to the east." East of the hall is an office. The office is a room. "You move on to a room east of the hall. As you enter, you discover that it is an office. The last rays of the evening sunlight dapple the carpet, and a dainty, white, wooden desk sits in front of the window. A vase of daffodis sit on the corner of the desk. This must have been a woman's workspace. A closer look shows a locked drawer, a calendar, and a man's body lying in the floor. You shriek in fear when you see him." The drawer is an object in the office. The drawer is a closed openable container. Inside the drawer is a half-eaten cookie and a hammer. The calendar is fixed in place in the office. Instead of examining calendar : Say "Someone has written 'Meet John at noon' in what appears to be red lipstick"
