The front  hallway is a room. "You are in the front hallway. To the North is a closed black door leading to the kitchen. To the West is a locked red door leading outside."

The kitchen is a room. The table is in the kitchen. The light switch is a device in the kitchen.  The light switch is fixed in place. The light is switched off. "The kitchen is dark. You can't see anything. There is a light switch" 

Carry out switching on the light: now the kitchen is lighted.
Carry out switching off the light: now the kitchen is dark.

The description of the table is "The table is old."

The yard is a room. "It is dark and cold outside."

The black door is south of the kitchen and north of the hallway. The black door is a closed door.

The red door is east of the yard and west of the hallway. The red door is a closed locked door. The red key unlocks the red door. The red key is on the table.
