Instead of touching something: say "[The noun] feels [the feeling of the noun]." A thing has some text called sound. The sound of a thing is usually "silence". The block listening rule is not listed in the check listening to rules. Carry out listening to something: say "From [the noun] you hear [the sound of the noun]." Instead of listening to a room: if an audible thing can be touched by the player, say "You hear [the list of audible things which can be touched by the player]."; otherwise say "Nothing of note." Definition: a thing is audible if the sound of it is not "silence". Before printing the name of something audible while listening to a room: say "[sound] from the " Out of bed is a scene Out of bed begins when play begins. When out of bed begins: Change the right hand status line to "[time of day]"; now the time of day is 5:00 AM; say "You wake up to the loud beeping of your alarm clock as it goes off. You have it set for 5 AM every morning, even on a Saturday like today. You slowly stand up and stretch as you get out of bed. 'God damn, why am I so sore?' You let out a sound almost like a growl. This surprises you, since you've never 'growled' before. You quickly put it out of your mind, though." A thing has some text called feeling. The feeling of a thing is usually "like a [noun]." Your Bedroom is a room. "You are in your small room. The lights are off since you've just woken up. There are windows in the room, but it's dark since it's early morning." The bedroom window is a door. The bedroom window is east of Your Bedroom. The printed name of the bedroom window is "window". "There is a window to the east that looks out over [the other side of the window]. The blinds are open but the only light that comes into the room is that from the dim street lamps outside. There is a small hallway to your north." The feeling of the bedroom window is "cold". Instead of searching the bedroom window: say "Through the window you see [the other side of the window]." Instead of going through the closed bedroom window: say "The window is closed." Instead of opening the window: say "As you open the window, a chilly breeze comes through. You close the window." The alarm clock is a switched on device. The sound of the alarm clock is "beeping". Carry out switching off an alarm clock: now the sound of the alarm clock is "silence". The bedside lamp is a switched off device. Carry out switching on the bedside lamp: now the bedroom is bright. Carry out switching off the bedside lamp: now the bedroom is dim. The nightstand is a supporter in Your Bedroom. The alarm clock and the lamp is on the nightstand. Carry out examining the alarm clock: if the sound of the alarm clock is not "silence": say "There is a small, simple alarm clock on your nightstand. The time you see on the face of the clock is [time of day]. It is making a [sound] noise."; otherwise: say "There is a small, simple alarm clock on your nightstand. The time you see on the face of the clock is [time of day]." test clock with "x alarm clock / listen / turn off the alarm clock / x alarm clock / listen / turn on the alarm clock / x alarm clock / listen" The bed is a thing in Your Bedroom. The Street is east of the bedroom window. The Hallway is a room. It is north of the bedroom. "A small hallway. There is a bathroom to the east." Instead of going to the Hallway when the Bedroom is dim: say "It's too dark to see where you're going." Out of bed ends in success when the Hallway is visited for the first time. Into the hallway is a scene. Into the hallway begins when the Hallway is visited for the first time. When into the hallway begins: say "You slowly walk into the hallway outside your bedroom. Something when you walk feels weird, but you can't quite put your finger on it. As you walk into the hallway you stumble a little, 'What the hell‽ Have I forgotten how to walk?'" The Bathroom is a room. It is east of the Hallway. A mirror is a thing in the bathroom. Instead of examining the mirror: If the bathroom is dim: say "It's too dark to see anything in the mirror."; Otherwise: say "You look in the mirror and gasp in surprise. You run a hand across your cheek, which is now covered in grey fur. Your hand has changed into something more of a paw. Still having the general shape of a hand, but having pads on the fingers and palm. Your hands are also covered in this fur and have short, dull claws on the ends of the fingers. 'W-What happened...?' you say to yourself. Relieved that you can still talk. You look over the rest of your mostly-naked body. Your feet have changed almost in the same way as your hands: fur-covered and having pads and claws. Your face and head has changed into what looks more like a wolf's. Then, all of a sudden you faint from the sheer shock of what you've witnessed."; end the story. The bathroom light is a switched off device in the bathroom. Carry out switching on the bathroom light: Now the bathroom is bright. Carry out switching off the bathroom light: Now the bathroom is dim.
